Asymmetric organocatalysis in deep eutectic solvents

DA Alonso, SJ Burlingham, R Chinchilla…- European Journal of…, 2021 - Wiley Online Library
The recent advances in asymmetric organocatalysis using eutectic mixtures as a reaction
medium are revised in this mini‐review. In addition, the first enantioselective transformations
using chiral eutectic solvents, which play the role of a green medium and organocatalyst, are
described. In this minireview we intend to deepen not only in the synthetic aspects of
asymmetric organocatalysis in eutectic mixtures, but also in the fundamental issues that
seem to be essential for a successful development of this promising, and at the same time…

[HTML][HTML] The growth of density perturbations in the last∼ 10 billion years from tomographic large-scale structure data

C Garca-Garca, J Ruiz-Zapatero…- …of Cosmology and…, 2021 - iopscience.iop.org
In order to investigate the origin of the ongoing tension between the amplitude of matter
fluctuations measured by weak lensing experiments at low redshifts and the value inferred
from the cosmic microwave background anisotropies, we reconstruct the evolution of this
amplitude from z∼ 2 using existing large-scale structure data. To do so, we decouple the
linear growth of density inhomogeneities from the background expansion, and constrain its
redshift dependence making use of a combination of 6 different data sets, including cosmic…

A minimal power-spectrum-based moment expansion for CMB B-mode searches

S Azzoni, MH Abitbol, D Alonso, A Gough…- …of Cosmology and…, 2021 - iopscience.iop.org
The characterization and modeling of polarized foregrounds has become a critical issue in
the quest for primordial B-modes. A typical method to proceed is to factorize and parametrize
the spectral properties of foregrounds and their scale dependence (ie assuming that
foreground spectra are well described everywhere by their sky average). Since in reality
foreground properties vary across the Galaxy, this assumption leads to inaccuracies in the
model that manifest themselves as biases in the final cosmological parameters (in this case…

[HTML][HTML] The Simons Observatory: gain, bandpass and polarization-angle calibration requirements for B-mode searches

MH Abitbol, D Alonso, SM Simon…- …of Cosmology and…, 2021 - iopscience.iop.org
We quantify the calibration requirements for systematic uncertainties for next-generation
ground-based observatories targeting the large-angle B-mode polarization of the Cosmic
Microwave Background, with a focus on the Simons Observatory (SO). We explore
uncertainties on gain calibration, bandpass center frequencies, and polarization angles,
including the frequency variation of the latter across the bandpass. We find that gain
calibration and bandpass center frequencies must be known to percent levels or less to…

Nonlinear extensions of gravitating dyons: from NUT wormholes to Taub-Bolt instantons

D Flores-Alonso, R Linares, M Maceda- Journal of High Energy Physics, 2021 - Springer
A bstract Recent work has shown the existence of a unique nonlinear extension of
electromagnetism which preserves conformal symmetry and allows for the freedom of duality
rotations. Moreover, black holes and gravitational waves have been found to exist in this
nonlinearly extended electrovacuum. We generalise these dyonic black holes in two major
ways: with the relaxation of their horizon topology and with the inclusion of magnetic mass.
Motivated by recent attention to traversable wormholes, we use this new family of Taub-NUT…

Hefty enhancement of cosmological constraints from the DES Y1 data using a hybrid effective field theory approach to galaxy bias

B Hadzhiyska, C Garca-Garca, D Alonso…- …of Cosmology and…, 2021 - iopscience.iop.org
We present a re-analysis of cosmic shear and galaxy clustering from first-year Dark Energy
Survey data (DES Y1), making use of a Hybrid Effective Field Theory (HEFT) approach to
model the galaxy-matter relation on weakly non-linear scales, initially proposed in [1]. This
allows us to explore the enhancement in cosmological constraining power enabled by
extending the galaxy clustering scale range typically used in projected large-scale structure
analyses. Our analysis is based on a recomputed harmonic-space data vector and…
