As shown by x-ray diffraction powder patterns and least-squares positional refinement, the
recently found phase InsBis is isotypic with Cr5Bs (T2 type) with a large tetragonal unit cell:
α= 8.544 � and c= 12.68 �. InsBi3 is the first. Β-metal representative of this structure type.
The axial ratio c/α= 1.484 is the smallest observed for the CreB3 type; the atomic positions
deviate significantly from those in CrsBs.
