This is a brief rating scale based on a semi-structured interview with the child. It takes about
10-15 minutes to complete and score. It is used to diagnose depression and determine its
severity. The scale is designed for use in 6-to 12-year-olds, but has also been shown to

Abstract The Children's Depression Rating Scale--Revised (CDRS-R; Poznanski et al.,
1984) is a clinician-rated instrument for the assessment of the severity of depression in
children ages 6-12 years. While the original CDRS (Poznanski et al., 1979) comprises 15
items rated on five-point scales (plus a" 0" option for" Unable to rate"), the CDRS-R consists
