The eruptive history of the P�tzcuaro Lake area in the Michoac�n Guanajuato Volcanic Field, central M�xico: Field mapping, C-14 and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology

Monogenetic volcanic fields occur in many tectonic settings representing an unpredictable
and uncertain volcanic hazard. The P�tzcuaro Lake is located in the central part of the
Michoac�n-Guanajuato Volcanic Field (MGVF). Field mapping of an area of 560 km 2,
stratigraphy and new radiometric ages (40 Ar/39 Ar and 14 C) aided in the identification of
45 individual volcanic landforms formed during the past 3.9 Ma. These landforms comprise
