The HST large programme on ω Centauri. II. Internal kinematics

A Bellini, M Libralato, LR Bedin, AP Milone…- The Astrophysical…, 2018 - iopscience.iop.org
In this second installment of the series, we look at the internal kinematics of the multiple
stellar populations of the globular cluster ω Centauri in one of the parallel Hubble Space
Telescope (HST) fields, located at about 3.5 half-light radii from the center of the cluster.
Thanks to the over 15 yr long baseline and the exquisite astrometric precision of the HST
cameras, well-measured stars in our proper-motion catalog have errors as low as∼ 10 μas
yr− 1, and the catalog itself extends to near the hydrogen-burning limit of the cluster. We…

Risk of bacterial coinfections in febrile infants 60 days old and younger with documented viral infections

P Mahajan, LR Browne, DA Levine, DM Cohen…- The Journal of…, 2018 - Elsevier
Objective To determine the risk of serious bacterial infections (SBIs) in young febrile infants
with and without viral infections. Study design Planned secondary analyses of a prospective
observational study of febrile infants 60 days of age or younger evaluated at 1 of 26
emergency departments who did not have clinical sepsis or an identifiable site of bacterial
infection. We compared patient demographics, clinical, and laboratory findings, and
prevalence of SBIs between virus-positive and virus-negative infants. Results Of the 4778…

[HTML][HTML] Temperature, acidification, and food supply interact to negatively affect the growth and survival of the forage fish, Menidia beryllina (Inland Silverside), and…

Climate change processes are warming, acidifying, and promoting a reduction of plankton
biomass within World oceans. While the effects of these stressors on marine fish have been
studied individually, their combined and interactive impacts remain unclear. Here we
present experiments investigating the interactive effects of increased p CO2, temperature,
and food-limitation on the early life history traits of two species of marine schooling fish
native to Northeast US estuaries, Menidia beryllina (inland silverside) and Cyprinodon…
