A Stylish Surfside Hideaway Touches Down in Pacific Beach

The breezy restaurant and lounge grand opens next month

Conveying chic beach bungalow vibes, Hideaway has come ashore in Pacific Beach where it lands on Mission Boulevard near the iconic Crystal Pier. The 5,500-square-foot restaurant is related to Tower12 in Hermosa Beach, sharing the pier side venue’s retro decor that honors vintage surf culture and its casual menu that includes American regional classics.

With a public grand opening party scheduled for Thursday, June 20, the space will offer entertainment in the form of live music and DJS along with a variety of hangout options including outdoor patios, cozy fireside lounges, and large dining areas for groups, each fueled by two full-service bars stocked with 30 beer taps that will also mix up specialty drinks and Hideaway’s large-format “social bowls” of sharable cocktails ranging from a flaming Volcano bowl to a mini party keg filled with margaritas.

The all-day, late-night menu features bar bites, salads, wings, and wood-fired pizza as well as a selection of sandwiches, burgers, and comfort food favorites like chicken pot pie, braised short ribs, rotisserie chicken, and rigatoni with meatballs. Weekend brunch is also in the works.

A rep for the restaurant tells Eater that Greg Newman, president and CEO of Baja Sharkeez Restaurant Group which runs Tower12 and Hideaway, intends to bring more of their restaurant brands to San Diego. The neighborhood of Little Italy is a potential destination for Manhattan Beach’s Esperanza Cocina de la Playa or Palmilla Cocina y Tequila, which opened last year in Newport Beach.
