With the historic St. Francois Mountains, the enticing waters of the St. Francis River and Big Creek, Sam A. Baker State Park is the perfect destination for your next getaway.

With access to the St. Francis River and Big Creek, anglers, canoeists, and others have the opportunity to fish and float year round. Sam A. Baker has several miles of trails as well. If you are hiking, backpacking, bicycling, or riding a horse, our trails will give you the wonderful outdoor experience you are looking for.

LOOKING TO SPEND THE NIGHT?

Our rustic cabins are the perfect way to experience the great outdoors. Maybe you’re looking to rough it? We also have two large campgrounds and a separate equestrian camp that may be what you are looking for. Our shaded picnic areas are also available for small or large groups.

HOW ABOUT A FLOAT ON THE RIVER?

Take a float trip on the scenic and secluded St. Francis River. Canoes, one-person sit-on-top kayaks and six-person rafts are available for rent at the park store. Big Creek is floatable in high water with kayaks only.
