Recognized as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2024):
By Kristina Leung and Stephanie Leung, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Mar 4, 2024)
Here are some of the reasons why Scotiabank was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2024):
- Scotiabank established ambitious commitments for 2025, including doubling the current representation of Indigenous employees across all levels of the organization, and increasing representation of persons with disabilities by 20 per cent (also across all levels of the organization) -- the bank recently added a new goal to increase the representation of those identifying as LGBT+ to seven per cent of its Canadian workforce
- Scotiabank recently created the SOAR development program to increase the pipeline of Indigenous students in banking -- aimed at Indigenous students completing post-secondary education, the 12 to 24-month program provides support through coaching, as well as opportunities to learn, practice and apply skills
- Scotiabank also updated its Elevate development program for women at the associate director or director level in its global banking and markets business in response to data showing a higher number of women leaving financial services at the mid-point of their careers -- the six-month program includes development sessions, mentorship and networking to increase exposure to senior leaders, with 95 per cent of the over 300 associate directors who participated remaining with the bank two years later
