Best Standing Desk Mat
Ergodriven Topo

The Ergodriven Topo is the perfect standing desk mat for those who can’t stand still. Thanks to the various slopes, slants, and raised surfaces, you can stand however you like—crossing your legs or standing up straight.

During testing, we frequently changed positions throughout the day to take pressure off our heels, back, and legs. We also found it easy to position, yet it doesn’t slide around when you’re shifting around on it. Based on hours of use, the Topo is the most comfortable mat we’ve tested.

Pros

  • Variety of ridges for different standing positions

  • Very comfortable

  • Stays in place

Cons

  • None that we could find

The minimalist mStand is ideal for desk use.

Best Laptop Stand for Desks
Rain Design mStand

Despite its lack of portability, we love the mStand for its simplicity and sturdy design. This curvy aluminum laptop stand is heavy, but it’s a no-nonsense, space-efficient solution for folks who want to avoid neck strain and optimize their viewing angle while working at a desk. It’s an incredible value at such a reasonable price point, and it’ll help you make the most of your work area.

Its wide base keeps it secure, with plenty of space to tuck a keyboard away underneath the laptop when you’re juggling a book or notepad, as well. It’s not adjustable, but we think it’ll work great for the vast majority of users.

Pros

  • Secure

  • Ergonomic

Cons

  • Heavy

  • Not adjustable

The Acer Chromebook is secure, fast, up-to-date, versatile, and simple. With thousands of apps, built-in virus protection and cloud backups.

Best Chromebook
Acer Chromebook 516 GE (2022)

The Acer Chromebook 516 GE isn’t the most powerful laptop ever built, but it’s solidly constructed, reasonably priced, and pretty buff for a Chromebook. You don’t have to love gaming to appreciate what this machine offers. It’s one of the fastest Chromebooks we’ve ever tested, it boasts Wi-Fi 6E and an Ethernet port, and its screen even has a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Pros

  • Fantastic performance

  • 120Hz display makes everything smoother

  • Plenty connectivity options

Cons

  • No Thunderbolt 4 connectivity

  • Speakers don’t sound great

These understated, but elegant, A2+ speakers from Audioengine delivered powerful, clear sound with a punch.

Best Computer Speakers
Audioengine A2+

They may be small, but the Audioengine A2+ speakers feel solid and well-made. The elegant design and matte satin black finish blend in easily on any desktop, but you might opt to stand out with a glossy red or white exterior.

We were instantly blown away by the power and punch of these speakers, and the strong stereo separation makes for good positional sound in games. The cabling is good quality and generous enough for a sit-stand desk. The Audioengine A2+ are the best compact computer speakers we’ve tested, delivering top-quality sound regardless of the source.

Pros

  • Rich sound across sources

  • Elegant design

  • Versatile connectivity

Cons

  • No remote

Credit: Reviewed / Betsey Goldwasser

The Blue Yeti X is the best USB microphone you can buy because it's easy to use in many different situations, with a wide variety of features.

Best USB Microphone
Blue Yeti X

The Blue Yeti X is the overall best USB microphone we’ve tested. It’s sturdily made, with a heavy metal stand included, and it’s loaded with features. A single knob on its front adjusts the gain, headphone volume, and will let you blend the audio coming through the headphones.

That means you can choose to hear just what the microphone picks up with no latency or you can hear the sound coming through your computer, too—crucial if you’re recording music or tracking dialogue. Whether you’re recording a podcast, dabbling in voice acting, or laying down guitar demos, this is a versatile, great-sounding mic.

Pros

  • Includes many extra features

  • Great audio quality

  • Solid construction

Cons

  • No XLR cable

  • Controls take time to get used to

Sony's new WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling headphones need to be heard to be believed.

Best Noise-Canceling Headphones
Sony WH-1000XM4

Sony’s WH-1000XM4s check off all the right boxes where essentials are concerned: They’re comfortable to wear, incredibly lightweight, and they offer amazing sound, cutting out ambient noise.

They provide plenty of useful features, including a new “Speak-to-Chat” feature that automatically pauses the headphones when you start speaking. They also let you connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously—perfect for flipping between devices for all those Zoom calls, whether you’re working from home or at the office.

Pros

  • Excellent audio quality

  • Top-notch noise cancelling

  • All day comfort

Cons

  • Effective operation has a learning curve

These are the best webcams available today.
Credit: Reviewed / Jackson Ruckar

The Logitech Brio offers a wide selection of resolutions, frame rates, and fields of view.

Best Webcam
Logitech Brio

The Logitech Brio is a fantastic webcam that offers a wide selection of resolutions, frame rates, and fields of view. It’s a great option for both video conferencing and streaming. When we recorded a 4K video at 30 frames per second in natural light, the Brio captured small details like the colorful drawings hanging on the fridge; faces didn’t look washed out. And still images were equally as impressive.

When we took a still in natural lighting, pastel colors were vivid and faces were sharp and completely in focus. The Brio is an expensive, feature-rich camera, so it might not be right for more casual users. But if you’re looking for a premium product, this is one of the best 4K webcams available.

Pros

  • Great for video conferencing and streaming

  • Easy to use

Cons

  • More than what most people need

The Logitech Keys MX is an ideal wireless keyboard for powering through your workday or homework.

Best Wireless Keyboard
Logitech Master Series MX Keys

The Logitech MX Keys is well-built, attractive, and works flawlessly right out of the box. It takes up a lot of desk space, but that’s a small price to pay for a wireless keyboard that’s so comfortable. It’s a joy to use even for long periods of time, and its low-profile, backlit keys have just the right amount of movement and bounce.

It comes with a USB-C cable for easy recharging, and Logitech says it should last for about 10 days of use between charges—or up to five months with the backlighting switched off. This is the best wireless keyboard we’ve tested to date.

Pros

  • Responsive keys

  • Backlighting

  • Long life between charges

Cons

  • Large footprint

  • Backlighting shortens battery life

Credit: Reviewed.com / Jeremy Stamas

The Logitech MK850 Performance's keyboard feels nice to type on, and it doesn't have overly-long key throws.

Best Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo
Logitech MK850

The Logitech MK850 Performance was our favorite bundle back in 2017 and, despite everything that’s come out since then, it’s still top dog where most users are concerned. These high-quality peripherals won’t look out of place on any desk, and they feel as great as they look.

The mouse in this set is similar to the expensive Logitech MX Master 2s, one of the best mice you can buy. It’s full-featured, ergonomic, and won’t hurt your hand after hours of use. The keyboard feels nice to type on, as it doesn’t have overly long key throws. And the unified USB receiver design is another great reason to buy one of these sets over one of the more expensive options from Apple or Microsoft.

Pros

  • Keyboard features comfortable wrist rest

  • Mouse is ergonomic

  • Set can connect with up to three devices

Cons

  • None that we could find

If you want the best wireless mouse for navigating those spreadsheets, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3 is our pick.

Best Wireless Mouse
Logitech MX Anywhere 3

Small but perfectly formed, this wireless mouse packs a lot of features into its diminutive frame. The MX Anywhere 3 lives up to its name, with the ability to track and navigate on any surface, including glass, with high precision. It’s powered by a rechargeable battery offering up to 70 days of life on a single charge.

Plugging the supplied charging cable into the USB-C port for just one minute gives you enough power for three hours of use. You can also use the MX Anywhere 3 as a wired mouse. The mouse can connect wirelessly via its included USB dongle or Bluetooth, and up to three computers can be paired to the mouse via the Easy Switch button.

The MX Anywhere 3 also features our favorite scroll-wheel option—the ability to switch between a click-style scroll (some call it detent) and a smooth scroll by just pushing the wheel with your finger. It’s fast enough to scroll up to 1,000 lines per second. With Logitech Options software you can customize the mouse's four buttons (two on the left side, one up top, and the scroll wheel click). You can also set the sensor sensitivity in increments of 50, from 200 DPI up to 4,000 DPI.

Pros

  • Works on any surface

  • Innovative scroll wheel

  • Long battery life

Cons

  • No storage compartment for dongle

A photo of the Acer Nitro XV282K KV 4K gaming monitor
Credit: Reviewed / Matthew S. Smith

The Acer Nitro XV282K KV is a very expensive 4K monitor, but that high price includes spot-on color accuracy and a very wide color gamut that creates lifelike images.

Best Computer Monitor
Acer Nitro XV282K KV

If you’re looking for the all-around best 4K monitor on the market, the 28-inch Acer Nitro XV282K KV is an easy choice. It’s typically used for high-end gaming, with its 144 Hz refresh rate and exceptional image quality. But its color performance and crisp display make it perfect for graphic design, photo editing, video production, audio editing, or live streaming.

Pros

  • High refresh rate

  • Excellent color accuracy

  • Very wide color gamut

Cons

  • Mediocre contrast

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e is the newest model of our favorite wireless printer.

Best Printer
HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e is the latest version of our old favorite. This wireless printer can handle 20 black-and-white pages per minute, with a 225-sheet input tray and 60-sheet output tray, and has both photocopy and scanning capabilities.

Our tester praised the previous model we tried for its pleasant user experience, its easy-to-use HP Smart app, and overall print quality. But we have occasionally found HP’s paper trays to be flimsy, so you’ll want to be gentle with it.

The Linksys EA7500 wireless Wi-Fi router
Credit: Linksys

The Linksys EA7500 packs a lot of value into a small package.

Best Wi-Fi Router
Linksys EA7500 AC1900

The Linksys EA7500 Wi-Fi router delivers a ton of value in a reasonably priced package. It serves up speeds in excess of 600 Megabits per second, according to our testing, and does a great job of handling a large number of devices all connected to the Internet at once.

You’ll have no trouble streaming a 4K YouTube video on one device, for example, while downloading large files on two others at the same time. It features four Gigabit LAN ports and a USB 3 port.

Pros

  • Consistently strong

  • Parental controls

  • Built-in speed test

Cons

  • Pricey

The Best Wi-Fi Extenders
Credit: Reviewed / Jackson Ruckar

Offering fast transfer speeds and a large coverage area, the Linksys RE9000 is the best Wi-Fi extender you can buy.

Best Wi-Fi Extender
Linksys RE9000

You’d be forgiven for assuming the RE9000 is a full router rather than a Wi-Fi extender, due to its large case, four antennas, and four Ethernet ports on its back. And, to be fair, it can be used as a full router. However, its main purpose is to extend a fast network from a powerful router.

It supports the AC3000 standard, one of the fastest non-Wi-Fi 6 variants, and also includes four Ethernet ports. It’s perfect for something like an office or a garage with several devices that all need internet access, as it can extend both wireless and wired connections.

Pros

  • Excellent speed

  • Strong signal strength over distance

Cons

  • Large, bulky device and power brick

  • Expensive

Google Nest WiFi mesh router
Credit: Reviewed / Betsey Goldwasser

Google's Nest WiFi is the best mesh router system you can buy.

Best Mesh Wi-Fi System
Google Nest Mesh System

The Google Nest Wi-Fi system is simple to set up, fast, and easy to use. Although it isn’t quite as fast as the Wi-Fi 6 Linksys Velo AX, it’s plenty fast for most users. At all test distances, we found that the connection is stable enough to view 4K YouTube videos without glitches.

It’s a breeze to install, thanks to the Google Home app, which comes preinstalled on Android devices. The inexpensive kit comes with one Wi-Fi router and a single mesh point, but you can purchase and install additional mesh points to suit your needs; the router supports up to five.

Pros

  • Simple install

  • Good WiFi speeds

  • Includes Google Assistant voice control on satellite router

Cons

  • No Ethernet ports on satellite routers
