I've worn Bombas for over three years—and I can never go back to regular socks

I'm willing to pay the higher price for these.

I never considered myself a specialty sock person; I like good quality socks for biking, running, and daily wear, but I wasn’t likely to shell out for a single pair unless they featured a logo or saying that I loved. However, trying Bombas socks opened me up to the difference that a good pair of socks can have on your day-to-day life, and I’m happy to report my findings!

Bombas makes socks, underwear, shoes, and more, in men's, women's, and children's sizes.

Bombas is a sustainable company that makes socks, t-shirts, and underwear. The brand is a Certified B Corp, meaning it scores well in terms of environmentally friendly material sourcing, ethical production, employee treatment, and transparency. The company was founded in 2013 when the founders learned that the most requested item in homeless shelters is socks. Since then, Bombas has operated on a one purchased = one donated model, where for every pair sold, a pair is donated to a homeless shelter, which now totals over 50 million donated items!

Although Bombas is best known for its socks, the brand has since branched out to include other products, including underwear, sandals, and even one of the best pairs of slippers we've tested.

Are Bombas different from other socks?

After wearing Bombas for over a year, I’m insistent that they are different from most socks. Bombas are comfortable and have a unique honeycomb design that supports the middle of the foot and is somewhat compressive. The resulting feeling is equal parts comfort and arch support, even if you have low arches.

Bombas also has socks designed for different purposes, like tennis, running, cycling, and hiking. The sock styles differ slightly to treat your feet well no matter which activity you’re participating in, and some socks even have thicker fabric in areas where your shoes might rub depending on the sport. Bombas are also great if you’re searching for certain fabrics for sweat-wicking or blister-prevention, like wool socks for hiking.

Bombas really won me over.

They're comfortable and stay in place

I have never been particular with socks as long as they meet a few requirements: they have to stay in place (not slide down my heel) and they need to breathe well so my feet don’t get hot and stinky. Saying that Bombas socks changed my life would be a bit dramatic, but I fell in love with the comfort, style, and warmth they provided. Over the past year, I’ve worn Bombas regularly for all types of activities. I loved them so much, in fact, that I gifted a pair to every member of my family.

The socks are designed to stay in place with Y-shaped heel stitching, a honeycomb arch support system, airflow venting, and strategic zone cushioning. The “zone cushioning” is my favorite feature because the socks are thicker in places where you hold your weigh and where you show may rub against your foot more, which would lead to blisters or cuts without the extra padding. Each pair of socks is soft and comfortable, and Bombas has dozens of colorful designs to select from.

I’ve worn everything from the Women's Merino Wool Quarter Socks to the Women's Performance Tennis Ankle Socks to the Women's Lightweight No Show Socks. I’m an avid fan of quarter-length socks, which are my go-to sock in the fall and winter because they covered my feet while wearing high-tops but didn’t make my feet sweaty. For sports and outdoor activities, I rely on the Women's Performance Running Ankle Socks.

They're made to last

I’ve been wearing the socks for over a year—for everything from travel to teaching cycling classes—and I can attest to how well the socks hold up. They keep their color and stretchiness after dozens of washes. Plus, Bombas has a “Happiness Guarantee” where you can email customer service for sock replacements for lost, holey, or worn-through socks; this guarantee makes the price more reasonable too.

The men's options are just as high quality as the women's

I asked my boyfriend to weigh in to see if the men’s socks were as good as the ones I tested, though I knew the answer was yes because he continues to buy Bombas along with me. He specifically noted that the Men’s Originals Calf Socks don’t get itchy the way some brands of tall socks do, and they don’t wear as thin as other athletic sock brands. He also liked Bombas’ colorful sock options to go along with his growing shoe collection.

Bombas socks are pretty but pricey.

They can be pricey, but they're worth it

My only qualm is that the socks are pricey, ranging from $12 to $17 a pair, which seems like a lot for a single pair. However, when you consider the high quality of the socks and the fact that a pair is donated for each one you buy—paying a little extra doesn't feel so bad. To save more on each pair, you can buy the socks (and even the brand's underwear and other apparel) in multipacks that are up for grabs at a 15% discount.

So. Many. Colors.

Absolutely.

You may be happy with the socks you have already, but imagine how much more comfortable you’d be with a pair that supports you all day long. You can wear Bombas at the office or the gym, find colors and patterns to show off your personality, and most importantly, move through your life with ease. And, with every pair you add to your sock drawer, Bombas will donate a pair to allow someone else the chance to feel the same way.
