The robot vacuum part of the equation is the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni—one of our favorite robot vacuum mops. The cordless vacuum is a lightweight unit that brings plenty of battery and cleaning power, perfect for dusting off all the areas the robot cannot reach.

About the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo is a robot vacuum-mop hybrid bundled with a cordless vacuum. The dustbin can be automatically emptied by the charging base. The robot is compatible with the Ecovacs Home App where you can create cleaning schedules and floor maps. The robot avoids obstacles using a combination of these floor maps and an optical sensor.

What we like about the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo

The Ecovacs X2 Combo is an all-in-one robot vacuum, mop, and a cordless vacuum.

The idea of combining a robot vacuum and a handheld is nothing new, but the X2 Combo is a prime example of how to make it work. We’ve already tested the robot portion of this duo—and it is a superb floor cleaner. It can suction up crumbs and polish chocolate syrup stains off hardwood.

The Combo handheld is also up to snuff. We tested the cordless vacuum by having it remove sand, dog hair, and uncooked rice from carpet. It was able to remove 62.5% of our testing debris in a single pass. That puts it in the same league as the Dyson V12 Slim.

It also has an impressive battery. At maximum setting, we ran the X2 Combo handheld ran continuously for 18 minutes.

Efficient Storage

Everything, including all the attachments, can be stored onboard.

One thing that Ecovacs got right on the money was how the storage is engineered. There’s a clip on the side that houses the wand and main brush head for the Combo cordless vacuum and a drawer for all the additional attachments.

Finally, the handheld vacuum has its own area for charging and emptying.

We found everything being in one spot an excellent feature.

The robot portion is top-notch

The X2 Combo’s robot, the Deebot X2 Omni, has excellent suction power. It auto-empties its bin into a self-sealing dust bag. Our testing showed that the rotating mop pads can scrub stuck-on stains off kitchen floors. And when it’s done, the charging base cleans the mop pads with hot water to avoid odor and grime buildup.

The square shape gives the ability to clean flush with walls and allows for most obstacle avoidance such as furniture legs.

The cordless vacuum has excellent battery life

Self-cleaning

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo is a self-cleaning and self-emptying model. When the robot finishes a cleaning cycle, the charging base is able to wash its mop pads, empty out of the dustbin, and place the debris into a self-sealing bag. This is also true of the cordless vacuum as well.

It's the complete package when it comes to self-maintenance. What it boils down to is a unit that you need to tend to less often. When you throw out the full bag, you never need to touch, smell, or see anything unpleasant. It also avoids the problem of a dust plume reintroducing allergens back into the air of your home.

What we didn’t like about the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo

Its mop pads can dirty your carpets in certain scenarios

The mop pads can drag on carpet.

The design of the robot vacuum-mop hybrid has not changed and so we still have the same gripes about it. One of our biggest ones is how the mop pads can cross-contaminate between the hardwood and carpets. The X2 can lift its mop pads to avoid this, but if you have plush carpets or throw rugs, it’s not going to help much.

Are you really going to use the whole thing?

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo is a lot. It’s a mop and two vacuums and at the time of review costs well over $1,000. So you need to justify the expense. You need to be interested in a robot vacuum and mop to get the most out of this package.

What are owners saying?

We reviewed the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo early in its lifecycle so there are fewer than 25 online reviews. The vast majority of people really liked this model. They talk about how much they enjoyed the long battery life of the cordless vacuum and the smart features of the robot vacuum. They tended to dislike how the robot got stuck on rugs and the lack of indication of what mode the handheld was in.

Should you buy the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo?

Yes, if you’re interested in a single floorcare package

The X2 Combo comes with a complete set of tools to keep your floors clean. Our recommendation comes down to how much you’re interested in having all your tools in one place. Lots of people like the ability to mix and match devices to get exactly what they’re looking for.

Everything that the X2 Combo comes with is designed to work together so getting something from another brand is a waste. However, if you’re not interested in getting an additional cordless vacuum, we’d suggest checking out the Deebot X2 Omni or if you’re looking for just a cordless vacuum we have plenty of recommendations in our buying guide.
