Mother’s Day is just around the corner (it’s May 14 for those of us who haven’t looked at a calendar in a while). And even if you live far from home, don't let the distance stop you from showing Mom how much you love and think about her. Sending flowers, or, if you live with her, getting them delivered at your doorstep, is the sweetest surprise. A lovely bouquet does wonders to brighten up someone's day—and home!

While you could pick up flowers at your grocery store, online flower delivery services (many of which connect with local florists and small businesses) are an easy way to ensure the woman who raised you actually gets her flowers in time. Below, find 10 of the best and highest-rated flower services that will deliver by Mother’s Day this year.

1. 1-800-Flowers

Choose local florists over gift boxes at this flower delivery service.

Our favorite: Splendid Spring Bouquet—$45

This massive flower site has been around for years and is probably what you think of when you hear "flower delivery service." Not only does it have a ton of Mother’s Day bouquets, but it also sells gifts like chocolates and teddy bears that moms will find especially sweet. Plus, we found that the 1-800-Flowers delivers quality bouquets in a timely manner after testing the service ourselves.

Flowers on the site delivered by local florists were far superior over ones that come in a gift box. Those that arrive via florist are nicely arranged and lasted longer compared to those that came in a box, which you’ll need to clip, feed, and place in a vase—and who wants to put Mom through all that? Plus, with a huge selection, you’ll be able to pick the perfect bouquet tailored to your mom.

2. The Sill

A plant will last longer than a bouquet.

Our favorite: Red Anthurium—$78

If you’re looking for something less traditional and will last longer than a week or so, try ordering potted flowers from The Sill. The site has a Gift page featuring a ton of curated flowers and houseplants. Note that some of the more popular plants have a waitlist, so you’ll want to pick flowers that are currently available to ensure they arrive on time.

One of our editors bought a houseplant from The Sill and absolutely loved the plant delivery service. She appreciated how well and safely her ZZ plant was packaged and that it came with care instructions, so her plant is still thriving. You can expect whichever plant you choose for Mom to arrive in tact.

3. Bouqs

Sustainable flowers sent right to Mom's door.

Our favorite: Mother's Day Roses—$59

Bouqs boasts a selection of farm-fresh, eco-friendly flowers with information of the farm your bouquet comes from with each purchase. It sells individual bouquets, but the site offers a flower subscription service (which would also make a great ongoing gift) that gives you 30% off your first bouquet. One of my coworkers used to receive monthly flowers from the service and they always arrived vibrant, well-packaged, and healthy—a.k.a. everything your mom wants from her bouquet.

4. BloomsyBox

BloomsyBox sells subscription flowers, but their standalone arrangements come highly rated.

Our favorite: Purple Peony Tulips—$80

While BloomsyBox is technically another flower subscription service, you can still buy a one-off bouquet for the site for Mother’s Day. The flowers are also all locally sourced and offer an array of bouquets featuring flowers that are in season. When we tested BloomsyBox, we were impressed by their vibrant flowers that arrived on time and lasted for about two weeks. While we haven’t received any of the individual bouquets, if they’re anything like the subscription, your mom will be wowed.

Our favorite: Benchmark Bouquets Light Pink Roses and White Oriental Lilies—$44

Aside from ordering your household essentials, you can order your mom a bouquet of flowers from a local florist at Amazon. The massive retailer has a specific page devoted to fresh cut flowers and you can choose your mom’s favorite flower with selections of roses, carnations, mixed bouquets, and more. Because these flowers come from different florists, you’re going to have to read the fine print for each bouquet to make sure they’ll arrive on time.

These flowers from a box are absolutely stunning.

Our favorite: Garden Glam Bouquet—$65

ProFlowers is a FTD company with a slight twist. It’s the first service we tested that delivered beautiful, bloomed flowers straight out of the box rather than waiting a few days for them to perk up. The flowers we tested lasted a full week without wilting, which is shocking, considering they came already in full bloom.
