Float Factory

If you’re looking to seriously upgrade your pool-party game, these Float Factory pool floats are the way to go. Our family of testers loved them, and they offer some unique features you won’t find on a basic inflatable float. They offer floats with built-in water guns, and the race cars can be upgraded with a hydro-motor to work with the steering wheel. They have a weight capacity of up to 300 pounds and are made from sturdy 30-millimeter vinyl.

Our reviewer found them perfect for pool owners of all ages, and with multiple colors and designs available, you can have a lot of fun racing around the pool Formula 1-style. The main thing to be aware of is that they don’t come with any kind of air pump, so you’ll have to find a way to blow them up yourself. And they’re pretty big, so they can be tricky to store if you don’t have a lot of storage space.

Pros

  • Strong and durable material

  • Fun designs

Cons

  • Doesn't come with air pump

  • Large to store

Product image of Big Joe Pool Float
Big Joe Pool Float

If you're looking for a pool float that you don't have to inflate, the Big Joe pool float is the perfect solution. It's essentially a buoyant bean bag covered in quick-drying mesh fabric.

When we unboxed this vibrant watermelon-themed float, we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was 100% ready to toss in the pool and start floating. The colors are gorgeous and the mesh is comfortable to relax on.

The Big Joe pool float is, in fact, big—measuring 48 inches in diameter. It easily fits two kiddos, or one adult and one child. It also stays afloat flawlessly, even with multiple people jumping on and off. Once waterlogged, it can feel a bit heavy so it's best to have an adult pull it from the pool after use. Thankfully, it does drain and dry fairly quickly.

We recommend you double-check the zipper to ensure it's fully closed before use as there may be a few stray beads stuck in the enclosure after shipping. We also like to check the zipper after every few uses just to make sure it's snug and not letting any beads into the pool.

The Big Joe pool float is sturdy and comfortable, and it also costs hundreds of dollars less than the beanbag-style Ledge Lounger Laze Pillow, which we've also tested. For a premium pool float that won't break the bank and is ready to go straight out of the box, the Big Joe pool float is a great value.

Pros

  • Doesn't need to be inflated

  • Comfortable and durable mesh fabric cover

  • Large size

Cons

  • Can be heavy when wet

Product image of Sloosh Pool Floats Chair
Sloosh Pool Floats Chair

Sometimes all you want to do is sit in the pool and cool off. That's when a floating pool chair comes in handy. Rather than a large, cumbersome float that mimics a lawn chair, we favor this minimalist design that's much easier to maneuver and store.

This simple design is basically a sling supported by three small, inflatable chambers. The straps are adjustable to accommodate people of all heights, and the backrest is supportive enough to prop up a grown man.

The chambers are quick and easy to inflate, and the straps adjust with a gentle pull, but then stay put very well while you're floating. If you like to be submerged while lounging in the pool, these pool float chairs are a great option. They can also be easily deflated for storage or to pack for on-the-go floating needs.

Keep in mind that with this style of float, your body is mostly submerged in the water, so this may not be for those who like to float at or above the surface. For a two-pack that costs less than $50, we are very impressed by the quality and durability of these floating pool chairs.

Pros

  • Easy to inflate

  • Straps are easy to adjust

  • Portable and easy to store

Cons

  • No option to float above surface of water

Product image of Ledge Lounger Laze Pillow
Ledge Lounger Laze Pillow

The Ledge Lounger Laze Pillow is one of the most premium pool floats on the market. When we tested it we found that it's incredibly enjoyable to use, comfortable, durable, and stylish.

This high-quality pool float is made for all-day lounging and feels like an actual pillow or beanbag chair. The machine-washable cover isn't waterproof, but it's easy to remove and clean for long-lasting use.

During testing, we were impressed with the size and construction of the Laze Pillow, but found it to be heavy and a bit tough to maneuver when wet.

For those without a budget when it comes to pool accessories, the Laze Pillow is a beautiful investment.

Pros

  • Stylish

  • Well-made

  • Comfortabe

  • Pricier than most pool floats

FLOAT-EH Moose Inflatable Pool Float

With 89% five-star reviews on Amazon, it’s no wonder this float is a popular choice. While this float is a bit expensive, it’s quite large and can fit one or two adults comfortably. It’s made of durable phthalates-free vinyl designed to withstand cold climates. Therefore, the manufacturer says, it’s about 30% to 40% thicker than your average pool float.

When fully inflated, this flat measures about six by four feet. It may seem like a monster of a float, but reviews mention it’s easy to inflate and deflate. And it’s got two separate valves for the head and body.

It includes strong handles and a loop attachment, a patch kit, and, best of all, a three-year limited warranty. Reviews consistently mention that this float is super durable, and people love that it’s so unique.

Pros

  • Large

  • Durable

  • 3-year warranty

Cons

  • None that we could find

Product image of Aqua 4-in-1 Deluxe Monterey Float
Aqua 4-in-1 Deluxe Monterey Float

Get the Aqua 4-in-1 Deluxe Monterey Float in the color of your choice and be comfortable in the pool all day. This float comes in two sizes and includes a tote, making it easy to transport and store when not in use. Great for pregnant folks or seniors, this float is easy to get on and off of. And the mesh seat rests in the water, so you’ll stay cool and comfy all day long.

Said to be sturdy, this float holds air well and supports adults up to 250 pounds without issue. The only possible downside to this flat is that the mesh might snag if you aren’t careful. So we’d suggest using the tote bag during transport when possible.

Pros

  • Comes with tote

  • 250-pound weight limit

Cons

  • Mesh might snag

Product image of Intex King Kool Lounger
Intex King Kool Lounger

What’s better than one affordable float? Two, obviously. With the Intex King Kool Lounger, you’re in luck. You’ll be sure to love the comfortable head and armrests on this float, which measures 15.88 inches long by 20.32 inches wide and 23.37 inches high.

Said to be durable, these floats hold large adults without any issues and can be inflated quickly. These floats are super functional in that they have included cup holders, and many reviewers mention that their small dogs enjoy these floats with them without puncturing the floats.

While these do last a while, when it’s time to purchase new floats, many people choose to reorder the King Kool Loungers because they love them so much.

Pros

  • Cup holder

  • Durable

Cons

  • None that we could find

Product image of Aqua Campania Ultimate 2-in-1 Pool Float Lounge
Aqua Campania Ultimate 2-in-1 Pool Float Lounge

Great for people who like some extra support in the pool, the Aqua Campania ultimate 2-in-1 pool lounger has an adjustable backrest that can be angled or laid flat for the ultimate lounge experience. Included is an attachable caddy with a cup holder for your pool-party necessities, like snacks or beverages, as long as you don’t have little splashers around you. And the caddy flips easily into the foot of the float when not needed.

This float comes in multiple color patterns and is covered with high-quality soft fabric mesh to keep you cool in hot weather. Easy to blow up, this float is said to stay inflated due to its duolock valve, but it doesn’t come with a patch kit in case of punctures. Some people have mentioned that this float measures a bit short, so if you’re vertically inclined, it may not be a great fit.

Pros

  • Adjustable back

  • Attachable caddy

Cons

  • No patch kit

  • On the short side

Product image of Intex Giant Inflatable Floating Mat
Intex Giant Inflatable Floating Mat

Relax with multiple friends on this giant inflatable floating mat from Intex. Measuring 114 inches by 84 inches, this giant mat keeps you right at the water’s surface, letting in just enough water to keep you cool when you’re soaking up the sun. Featuring Intex Connect-’n’-Float connectors for use with other floats, this is a great addition to any aquatic adventure.

While this is a larger float that takes some time to inflate, it folds small for storage. Reviews mention that the floating mat is super comfortable and has a high-quality feel, and kids love that they can easily balance atop it without issue. But, as always, we recommend keeping a close eye on your little ones so they don’t topple into each other if they lose their balance; this float is recommended for adult use.

Pros

  • Big enough for multiple adults

  • Works with other Intex floats

Cons

  • Takes time to inflate

How we test and evaluate pool floats

It's a tough job but, as they say, someone's got to do it. When the weather gets hot we turn to a few Reviewed staffers who are known to spend time poolside, and we get their input on the best pool floats for every floating scenario.

We take into consideration materials, ease of inflation (for inflatable floats), ease of use, maintenance, durability, and, of course, the fun factor.
