Corporate Engagement

Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision overturning Roe v. Wade, many companies have taken steps to address the ruling’s impact on their employees, consumers, and communities. Companies are finding that restricted access to reproductive healthcare is a workplace issue that adversely affects the talent, economic, legal, and reputational environment in which they operate.

In this turbulent environment, businesses and their leaders have a critical role to play in advancing reproductive rights.

The Center for Reproductive Rights actively collaborates with companies and other stakeholders to navigate this new environment, and to advocate for laws that reflect employee and consumer needs for access to care.

Why It Matters

Restricting reproductive rights impacts:

Recruitment

Retention

  • Women who don’t have access to abortion care are three times more likely to leave the workforce and four times more likely to live in poverty.

Economies

  • State-level abortion restrictions cost state economies over $100 billion each year by reducing labor force participants and earnings levels and increasing turnover and time off from work.

What We Do

The Center for Reproductive Rights works with companies and business leaders to advance laws and policies that promote access to reliable reproductive healthcare.

Our work falls into three areas:

Community

  • Raise awareness of the social and economic benefits of investing in reproductive health care access and bodily autonomy.

  • Create a space for open dialogue and sharing of emerging best practices by building a community of companies willing and eager to engage on reproductive rights.

Litigation

Hundreds of companies and executives have engaged with the Center’s legal cases challenging abortion restrictions by authoring or signing on to amicus (“friend-of-the-court”) briefs to share the impact that limits on reproductive health access are having on their business, recruitment, retention, and operations.

Explore two of these briefs:

Advocacy

  • Educate and empower businesses and business leaders to advocate for policies that ensure equitable access to reproductive healthcare for employees and families, such as the Women’s Health Protection Act.

  • Join other companies who believe bans are bad for business by signing onto the Don’t Ban Equality campaign.
