Why is my Lightsail instance's CPU steal time high?

Short description

If your instance runs out of CPU burst capacity, then the CPU's steal time increases. To reduce the steal time, identify services that use too many resources, and then deactivate them. If you still experience a high steal time, then create a larger instance.

Resolution

Uninstall or deactivate nonessential resources

Complete the following steps:

1. Identify the services that use your CPU resources.
   Note: To view system performance, run the top command in Linux, or use Task Manager in Windows.
2. Uninstall or deactivate nonessential services.

Create a larger instance

Complete the following steps:

1. Create a Lightsail block storage disk snapshot of your instance.
2. Use the snapshot to create a larger instance.
