Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. It arises from the cells lining the tubules of the kidney and is characterized by clear or pale cytoplasm when viewed under a microscope. The term "clear cell" refers to the cells' clear or transparent appearance due to the presence of glycogen and lipids within the cells. In the early stages, ccRCC may not cause noticeable symptoms. As it progresses, symptoms may include hematuria, weight loss, flank pain, and malaise.
