The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the holy grail of motorcycle events. Attended by 500,000 riders who make the pilgrimage to the scenic Black Hills of South Dakota every August. The rally has been around since 1938 and ever since has been one of the country’s top events for riding enthusiasts. Your experience at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
But the event isn’t all motorcycles and more motorcycles. Even if you don’t ride, there will be a lot of exciting events to look forward to. Get your legs moving at the Legendary Sturgis 5k Run/Walk. Show off your bearded prowess at the Beard and Mustache Contest. Put on your poker face at the 2nd Annual Mayor’s Texas Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament.
See if your tattoo will earn you a prize at the Tattoo Tuesday Contest. Many more activities, displays, and auctions for both riders and non-riders alike await you at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Rock out to the best music at the concerts. Homegrown, national, and international artists will be crankin’ it up so your ears are going to be taken on one helluva ride too. Past performers include Willie Nelson, Cheap Trick, Godsmack, and Def Leppard. This year, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, Uncle Kracker, Kid Rock, Steel Panther, and more will be performing.
Oh, and did we mention the food? Because it’s going to be one delicious event. Over 100 food vendors will be around to feed you the juiciest, tastiest, most delicious food in South Dakota. There’ll be burgers, wings, pizza, sausages, and much more. And this year, the inaugural Sturgis Street Food Throw Down will be something new to look forward to, so rest assured there will be tons of mouthwatering food waiting for you after your ride.

How to get around Sturgis
Sturgis isn’t famous worldwide as a biker destination for nothing, so riders are encouraged to bring their bikes.
Getting around in a car can be tricky during the rally, because motorcycles are going to be everywhere with many major streets closed off to vehicles.
Where to stay in Sturgis
Sturgis and the nearby Black Hills offer an extensive range of lodging options to suit all tastes and budgets. Outdoorsy types will enjoy the campgrounds, but there are also upscale luxury resorts available.
There are more than 300 accommodation options in the area, including bed and breakfasts, private homes for rent, RV’s, motels, hotels, and camping.
Things to do in Sturgis
Sturgis is known all over the world for its amazing biker culture. Good times, biker bars, and world-class bikes are all waiting for you. Go on a ride around some of the picturesque destinations that have made the Black Hills a rider’s dream: Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Devil’s Tower, to name a few. Sturgis is practically synonymous to motorcycles, so there will be lots of motorcycle-focused attractions and entertainment. Head over to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame, filled with vintage, rare motorcycles while offering a glimpse into the fascinating world of motorcycles.
Bottoms up: visit Belle Joli’ Winery, an amazing local winery with a view. Down a few pints at The Knuckle Saloon, a brewery that doubles as a museum. Have their famous Knuckle Sandwich before leaving.
Shop for memorabilia at the many souvenir shops, and unwind at the Harley-Davidson Rally Point.
