Man shot near Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, suspect remains at large more than a week later: NYPD

Police from the 105th Precinct in Queens Village are looking for a gunman who shot a 23-year-old man on a residential street in Bellerose last month.

The shooting occurred on the night of Thursday, June 27, when the suspect approached the victim in the vicinity of 83rd Avenue and 242nd Street, two blocks west of the Cross Island Parkway, just before midnight and shot him in the torso, police said. The gunman ran off in an unknown direction.

EMS responded to the crime scene, just two blocks east of the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, and transported the victim to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he was listed in stable condition.

An NYPD spokesman said on Monday that it is unknown if the gunman is living at the migrant shelter that is located at the Creedmoor campus. A surveillance photo of the suspect was released, and he is described as having a medium complexion, a thin mustache and dark hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers

Through June 30, the 105th Precinct has reported 222 assaults so far in 2024, one fewer than the 223 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 0.4%, according to the most recent CompStat report. The precinct reported 6 shooting incidents so far this year which matched the six reported at the same point in 2023, according to CompStat.
