Assemblywoman Nily Rozic visited the Chinese-American Planning Council’s (CPC) Queens Community Center this week to inspect the upgrades made possible by a $125,000 state capital grant she secured for the center.
The CPC is the nation’s largest Asian American social services organization, serving thousands daily through over 50 programs at 35 locations citywide.
The Queens Community Center, located on 41st Avenue and 133rd Street in Flushing, provides social services to all, but especially to Asian American Pacific Islander immigrant and low-income households through food access, health assistance, family counseling, legal services, child care and English translation services.
The improvements include functioning elevators and new air conditioning units for CPC’s daycare center, enhancing the center’s ability to serve its visitors, particularly seniors and children.
“Centers such as the Chinese-American Planning Council’s Queens Center are vital to our community,” said Rozic. “This state-allocated funding has improved the infrastructure at the center, facilitating its use for many in the community—especially those who rely on its services the most.”
Wayne Ho, President and CEO of the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), expressed gratitude for the grant, saying, “We thank Assemblywoman Nily Rozic for the $125,000 capital grant, which will be instrumental in improving the infrastructure of our Queens Community Center that serves nearly 20,000 community members each year.”
Ho added that these enhancements would allow them to better serve community members and expand their programs. “We are grateful for Assemblywoman Rozic’s support and commitment to the well-being of Queens,” said Ho.
In addition to this investment, Rozic recently announced $250,000 in funding for the renovation of P.S. 162Q The John Golden School’s auditorium and $50,000 to support the South Asian Council for Social Services’ food pantry and community programming.
