‘Not for Sensitive Souls’ is an exhibition of fine art photography by Bill Power which is being held throughout the month of July in Saint George's Arts and Heritage Centre. Bill is well known as an historian and for his involvement in Saint George’s. But his reputation as an award-winning photographer is not as well appreciated locally, despite him having won hundreds of awards in over 35 countries. He has also judged international competitions in several countries including France, Bulgaria, Denmark, Spain, England, Scotland and India. This exhibition, which is his first in Mitchelstown in ten years, will feature some of his portraiture and fine art images, and will include some award winners. 'I thought the title of the exhibition would suit the venue,' he says. 'I've chosen some of my favourite images, in preference to award-winners, especially ones that bring back pleasant memories'. The exhibition will run throughout July, and will be open during office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Wednesday mornings. Viewing outside those times can be arranged by appointment. Please contact 087-4696913, 087-8113611, or email saintgeorgesevents@gmail.com. Admission is by donation. All funds raised will go to the ongoing restoration works at Saint George’s. Over the past five years, the volunteer directors have raised over €800,000 to renovate and restore Saint George's, which has established a firm reputation as a performance and arts venue in the centre of Munster. It is also the biggest ongoing volunteer-led restoration project currently underway in North Cork. Saint George’s is open Tuesdays, Wednesday mornings and Thursdays, or admittance can be arranged by appointment by calling 087-4696913, or by contacting Bill at 087-8113611. The exhibition opens on this coming Monday, 8th July, at 8pm (all welcome).
