🌿✨ Black Jaguar Foundation celebrates Environment Week in Santana do Araguaia - Pará - Brazil! 🌍💚 🌿✨ Black Jaguar Foundation celebra a Semana do Meio Ambiente em Santana do Araguaia - Pará! 🌍💚 Last month, Black Jaguar Foundation had the honor of supporting the Department of Environment of Santana do Araguaia (Pará - Brazil), in an initiative that marked our commitment to ecological restoration and environmental education in the region. We donated 700 tree seedlings, in exchange for recycled PET bottles, a beautiful way to encourage sustainability. In addition, we conducted a series of lectures for over 450 children from local schools, between 4 to 10 years old. It was an incredible opportunity to share our mission of restoring the Amazon and Cerrado, creating awareness on the importance of environmental conservation and biodiversity. This year, we embraced the UN theme: "Accelerating land restoration, resilience to drought, and progress against desertification," reinforcing our commitment to making positive change together. We are proud to see how our efforts are shaping young minds, preparing them for a more sustainable future. Environmental education is essential to building a better world and can positively impact these children. Together, we are making a difference! 🌳💙 . . . Juntos, estamos fazendo a diferença! 🌳💙

Celebrating the recognition from GEN - Global Ecovillage Network to our vibrating Ecovillage... because if we intend to promote culture regeneration it is a prerrogative to invest time, energy and all our efforts to co-create another society, with new relational codes, rising from the abundance paradigm! We are expanding like a fractal, routed in our innegotiable values and with our DNA based on self-development and social technologies. Our definition of Ecovillages is: Sustainable intentional communities that bring together a group of people who chose to share values, interests and dreams, in care and respect for nature and its diversity of life forms, living in freedom and harmony with each other, co-creating a lifestyle centered on trust, cooperation and balance between self-care and care for the collective. Ecovillages are: * Regenerative organizations * Communities of practice * Political-socio-environmental innovation laboratories Ecovillages bring concrete solutions and actions for land restoration, economic rebirth, social regeneration and cultural celebration.
“A group of people who share the risk”, this is community for us! 🌱 Terra Luminous welcomed 20 participants in immersive permaculture courses, providing 4 scholarships for local community teenagers and neighboring farmers. They provided Sociocracy and Nonviolent Communication workshops to the local community’s women’s recycling cooperative and city hall employees. And they created a partnership with the municipality’s education department to provide immersive environmental education experiences for the local school. 🏘️ They also organised the municipality to participate in the revision of the city's master plan. The city hall intended to expand urban areas without considering environmental protection laws and they created a counterproposal that encompassed urban, social, and environmental development. Beyond that, they actively engaged with the community to revitalise a local park, promoting sustainable tourism. 🌳 Finally, they established five partnerships with institutions in São Paulo for research and monitoring of the Atlantic Forest. These include mapping ecosystem services, monitoring fungi, overlaying environmental laws to guide the city’s master plan, studies on local biodiversity, and water quality monitoring. The Exciting Trend in the Industry! 👇 One of our industry's most exciting and urgent trends is the surging demand for venues committed to Net Zero and ecological principles for team retreats. 🌍 It's great to see companies prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility when planning their retreats. We're part of this trend, but it does come with an asterisk* *It is one thing to share about your intention for the trend, it is another to actually implement it. 💡 The tip is to see the efforts the venue/hotel implements when deciding on any location for your team retreat. Oh and in case you want to get some inspiration, here is a great example of Lisbon’s first sustainable hotel: Inspira Immersive Boutique Hotels 💚 #Sustainability #NetZero #TeamRetreats
. . . We're back at Peninha to check on the progress of last year's reforestation action, about 80% has taken root 💚 Yesterday, the Inspira Hotels team planted another 40 trees, leaving the remaining 410 to the experienced hands of Cascais Ambiente. This planting area is enough to sequester the 158 tonnes of CO2 emitted during our 2022 activities. 📍Sintra Cascais Natural Park, Peninha 💚 Clearing invasive species and planting native species helps restore the ecosystem's balance, making it more resilient to climate change. It reduces the risk of fire by controlling combustible material. 💚 The planted area is enough to sequester our 2022 carbon footprint, assuming a 15-year lifespan. As a protected area managed by the municipality, it's expected that these trees will remain active for a longer period. 💚 Inspira Hotels financially sponsors the purchase of trees, and the planting and maintenance work. 💚 The Oxygen programme is an initiative promoting and defending nature and biodiversity in the Cascais area, entirely based on volunteer activities. 💚 It's not just companies that can take part. The Oxygen programme has a calendar of environmental sustainability activities that any of us can sign up for. #Reforestation #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #InspiraHotels

We have announced another investment in biome regeneration and conservation projects in Latin America: through 'Regenera América,' a program by Mercado Libre that supports initiatives for the restoration and conservation of iconic biomes in the region, we will strengthen 6 projects focused on reforestation and conservation in Brazil and Mexico. The restoration and conservation of over 15 thousand hectares of native forest, equivalent to more than 14 million trees, will generate an estimated capture of more than 1.1 million tons of CO2 in 30 years and the prevention of the emission of more than 3 million tons of CO2 in the same period. By investing an amount proportional to our carbon footprint to regenerate ecosystems we also stimulate the productive chain associated with restoration, creating jobs and income for local communities to thrive while protecting our greatest wealth, and ensuring the long-term economic sustainability of the projects.

Believing that the sustainability of people’s lives and corporate operations is possible only when nature and society are sustainable, the JT Group has made biodiversity preservation a high priority. By understanding how our businesses affect and depend on ecosystems, we are working harder to preserve biodiversity. The JT Group Sustainability Targets aim to further contribute to forest conservation in the supply chain, with a view to improving biodiversity as well. In Japan, "JT Forests" are located in nine locations across the country, where tree planting and other activities are carried out. One of the objectives of these activities is to conserve forest environments with rich ecosystems and diverse biological communities. These activities are characterized by partnerships with local governments, forestry cooperatives, and other organizations, as well as interaction with local communities through forest conservation activities in which employee volunteers participate. For more information on the JT Group Sustainability Targets, please visit our website: https://brnw.ch/21wK0wn #BiodiversityDay #PartOfThePlan #ForNature JTグループは、自然や社会が持続可能なものでなければ、人の暮らしや企業活動も持続可能なものとはならないと考えており、⽣物多様性の保全を重要課題の⼀つとして掲げています。

(Inter)national Human-Wildlife Expert: Speaker, Moderator and Independent researcher at Bear at Work
On World Environment Day and thinking about the Europe For Nature initiative, I thought I will share my (short) personal story into the field of Human-Wildlife Conflict/Coexistence again: Connecting People and Wildlife: A conversation with all participants (human and non-human) From an early age I was touched by the nature around me. Therefore, it was no surprise that I felt completely at home when studying Forest and Nature Management at Wageningen University. It was there that a seed has been planted to really understand conflicts between people and wild animals. Especially what lessons we can learn in order to learn to live together. However, this seed was not planted during regular lectures. And, even not in the Netherlands. It was planted during my internship in and around Yellowstone National Park, Montana, USA. That seed needed some time to develop. After an ecologically oriented study and experience in policy practice I initiated my research into human-animal interactions, from an social science perspective. Based on my experiences, I can tell that various people, from various disciplines, basically all want to live together with the wild animals they regard “problem animals”. However, they get stuck in answering the ‘how’ question and rely on standard ways of thinking and possibilities, often including lethal measures. My motivation for this theme did not arise only from my own experiences. I also observe a social (and ecological) necessity. There is a reason why the subject of sustainability is a top priority on various political agendas. Related to this, the effects of climate change on the spreading of wild animals is another important theme. As a consequence, for example, Dutch people might suddenly find a brown bear in their backyard (ok, maybe wait a few more years). Wolves, on the other hand, have been established in the Netherlands. That is something we couldn’t imagine about ten years ago. What drives me most, and is – from my perspective – essential in moving forward to a sustainable future in which humans and wild animal can thrive in the best way possible: Are we willing to ‘listen’ to the other person, as well as the wild animals surrounding us? To listen to the voice of other people and to the ‘voice’ of wild animals around us. By truly listening, understanding and discovering why the other person expresses himself in a certain way, it is possible to take sustainable steps. This means, literally, letting go of control and remain open to mutuality in relations. I accept that challenge with people and wild animals. And hope more people to follow and share their stories to understand different perspectives from humans and wild animals. #EuropeForNature #WorldEnvironmentDay #Coexistence

A simple explanation to use more wood and cork in construction
The use of wood and cork in construction is a nature-based solution, combined with decarbonization and climate neutrality. Construction sector intends to triple the use of wood in the coming years. For wood and cork to be a renewable resource, it is necessary ➡️ to ensure that they come from responsibly managed forests and controlled sources. For this reason, the use of forest materials ✅ certified by FSC standards contributes to making our cities and forests more sustainable. Industry professionals support responsible forest management using certified forest resources. And consumers can also contribute, demanding that the wood and cork used in their homes and offices come from sustainable forests, which guarantee: ✅Zero deforestation ✅ Biodiversity conservation ✅ Protection of workers’ rights ✅ Defense of the interests of local communities and Indigenous Peoples Together we can make sustainable change! Choose FSC. How many countries do we have in EU? And how many have a strategy for biodiversity protection? - Only 6! 'To date, only Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, and Sweden have notified clear and precise plans.' What about others, they do not consider it as a priority? With this absence of governments thinking actively and acting upon nature protection NGOs, and various organisations working locally will struggle to make impact. Portugal is not on this list... Poland, Romania - just a few examples which I am personally aware of, where the rate of deforestation, legalised or illegal is high. 'Because of the limited number of commitments received so far, the Commission does not have enough information to assess whether the EU is on track to achieve its protected area targets by 2030' Do we, as citizens have a say? How can we get organised to press our governments to act? "Due to the limited number of commitments received so far, the Commission does not have enough information to assess whether the EU is on track."

LIDL CZECH REPUBLIC SUPPORTS STRONG FORESTS 🌳 The preservation of biodiversity and thus also the management of deforestation is a central field of action for Lidl International. Initiatives such as "Lidl Les“ – what means Lidl Forests - at Lidl Česká republika demonstrate our colleagues' commitment to protecting the green lungs of our planet. In 2023, Lidl Czech Republic is proud to announce the planting of approximately 200,000 coniferous and deciduous trees as part of the initiative and our dedication to creating strong and vibrant forests for generations to come. 🌳 About Lidl Les 🌳 LČR, Forests of the Czech Republic, is the biggest manager of protected areas and the most important partner of nature conservation bodies in the Czech Republic. LČR manages forests in line with sustainability principles and in an environment-friendly way and that’s why we worked hand-in-hand with them to carefully select sites with unique histories, where original forests have disappeared. Our customers then had the power to shape the future of “Lidl Les” by voting on 42 different possible locations in the Czech Republic. Our goal is to create resilient and diverse forests. You can view the selected locations and where the new forests will grow here: LIDL vysadí 200 tisíc nových stromů (lidl-les.cz/). In 2023, there were also exciting rewards for customers who participated in the initiative by voting via the Lidl Plus app. Every vote cast entered customers into a draw for incredible prizes! 🤝 A Collective Effort 🤝 Our reforestation efforts involve not only volunteer work but also active participation from our dedicated Lidl colleagues. The first trees were planted at the selected site in September. We’re proud to have such dedicated colleagues and would like to thank them for their commitment. Do you volunteer for the environment? Share it with us below! ⬇ #LidlLes #sustainability #greeninitiatives #lidlczechrepublic #plantingtrees #lidlinternational #teamlidl #wearelidl
