At Selenis we take various measures to make sure that we have a positive impact on our forests. We believe that their protection is essential to ensure the sustainability of ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and combat climate change. In partnership with Instituto Zág Araucária, we donated 400 kilos of pine nut seeds to the indigenous Xokleng Tribe, supporting their vital work in safeguarding the Araucaria tree. The Araucaria tree is critically endangered, with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List predicting its extinction within a few years.  In a beautiful gesture of appreciation, the Xokleng tribe invited our team to participate in their traditional celebration, symbolising our collective commitment to preserving the Araucaria forests and enhancing biodiversity. During this special occasion, we had the honour of experiencing their rich culture heritage and profound connection to their land. #culturalheritage #biodiversity #natureconservation

Selenis has been partnering with Projeto Reciclajuda, a recycling initiative in Brazil who seeks to give visibility to recyclable collectors in Curitiba, Brazil, while reducing the dispersion of waste in the city.   Last year, through this initiative we supported the living and working conditions of 10 waste collectors, by providing tools that allowed them to increase their collection rates, which resulted in improvements to their monthly income. One of the ten collectors is Nivaldo, who has been working with the collection of recyclables for over a decade.   "I'm Nivaldo, a collector with hope in my heart that with recycling, we can build a sustainable future." #recyclinginitiatives #selenis #recycling #sustainability

Last month, our team participated in the 4th meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) in Ottawa, Canada, together with over 220 businesses and financial institutions that work across the plastics value chain.    The Business Coalition for a Plastic Treaty has been making progress in its priority areas, advancing discussions that will lead up to our next meeting, the INC-5 in Busan, South Korea. During the discussion, we've recognised and supported the initiative by Rwanda and Peru to promote circular economy approaches, emphasizing the need for global rules to level the playing field, drive innovation, and mobilize investments. In the Business Coalition, we agree on the importance of reducing plastic production and use through a circular economy approach.
