2024 updated World Health Organization Bacterial pathogens of public health importance to guide research, development and strategies to prevent and control antimicrobial resistance. At IMMUNETHEP, we are developing vaccines and monoclonal antibodies that will fight some of the pathogens in this list. We have very promissing preclinical results with our PNV vaccine that will soon enter clinical trials. The bacterial virulence mechanism that we target is shared by multiple bacteria and our approach might be applicable to more species in this list. #immunethep #vaccines #monoclonalantibodies #amr #antibioticresistance

Here are some of my takeaways among so many: -Map flows of money in the healthcare system to understand value drivers -Scaling fast is challenging due to complex payer systems, including regulatory hurdles and changing behavior in the US healthcare system -Having strategic partnerships with investors, including access to important industry connections and expertise, is highly beneficial -Successful individuals may feel invincible and less likely to be held accountable for their actions, creating a dangerous situation for the company. Today, Filipa Lemos presented our latest results of IMMUNETHEP Paragon Novel Vaccine targeting extracellular bacterial GAPDH on the prevention of neonatal infections caused by Group B Streptococcus and Staphylococcus aureus at the EMBO workshop "Pathogen immunity and signaling" in Venice, Italy. The recent discovery and successful development of a novel antibiotic class that can kill carbapenem-resistant acinetobacter baumannii is an extraordinarily important landmark. Let's hope this new class will be carefully used to avoid a rapid development of resistance. The increased resistance of bacteria to known antibiotics is expected to be responsible for over 30 million human deaths per year in just a couple of decades, with incredible costs and burden to national health systems. Our strategy at IMMUNETHEP is to use our own immune system to fight bacteria, by targeting a protein virulence factor common to many of the most serious bacterial threats.
