Ethereum ETFs are out. So what's next? Eric Johansson checked in with five market watchers to answer that burning question. Nine spot Ethereum ETFs launched on Tuesday to industry-wide celebration. Before their launch, pundits, degens and analysts rolled out the red carpet for the funds, predicting that they’d replicate the success of the 10 spot Bitcoin ETFs that launched in January. If Bitcoin funds could pump the underlying asset to new heights, why wouldn’t the same be true with Ether? Four days later, it seems the first week of spot Ethereum ETF trading has been a mixed bag. While Ethereum ETFs bagged $107 million in total inflows on the first day of trading, Wednesday and Thursday respectively saw $133 million and $153 million in outflows, according to data from SosoValue. And Ether is down 4.6% on the week, according to CoinGecko data. However, things may be about to change. https://lnkd.in/euHXajpQ

Donald Trump’s policies will be inflationary and that could be good for Bitcoin, writes @Wolfgang Munchau for DL News. "The two most consequential changes I would expect him to pursue are not trade tariffs but a devaluation of the dollar and the exertion of political control over the Federal Reserve," he says. However, that may not be bad for Bitcoin. "If people start to fear about the future of the dollar itself, the combination of soft regulation and dollar debasement could drive up the price of Bitcoin beyond anything we have seen so far," he says. https://lnkd.in/e_BxDxWj

Why are the two biggest cryptocurrencies down? Nine spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds launched on Tuesday after months of waiting. Many industry watchers expected it to trigger a new crypto rally. However, Bitcoin has drifted almost 1.1% while Ether has plunged 8.2% over the past week, according to CoinGecko data. “If this trend continues, crypto will need more help to rally,” 10x Research said in an investor note on Thursday. https://lnkd.in/gPxnzFXV

“Something about tech, and especially crypto and blockchain, doesn’t surface the women in the industry as much as the men,” Amanda Wick told Joanna Wright and Benjamin Weiss for DL News. She has a point. The richest people in the industry are men, most people on the different projects' boards are men, and if a woman in the industry dares to speak up, then you can expect all hell to rain down on her — or at least have her face a shitstorm on Twitter fuelled by toxic masculinity. This is an important piece of journalism, and I encourage you to read every word of it.

Crypto is funding a flood of election disinformation online, Chainalysis warns. “Crypto is a tool like any other that’s utilised to support these influence operations globally,” Valerie Kennedy, director of investigations at the crypto data firm, told DL News' Benjamin Weiss. Bot farms, web hosters, and virtual number services accept crypto. One operation alone funnelled $7.7 million in Bitcoin through its operations, researchers warn. https://lnkd.in/epRqZDph

What are the biggest crypto job moves right now? DL News pulled together the past month’s major crypto hires and reveals the top job the industry is hiring for. They include massive hires by the White House, Coinbase, the Stellar Development Foundation, Tether.io, and Coinme to mention a few. These hires come as crypto hiring is proving to be a minefield. Not only is it tough to find and manage the right talent, but a recent DL News investigation found that fake applicants are flooding job boards with doctored CVs. Some of these bogus applicants appear to be North Korean nationals trying to infiltrate crypto projects for nefarious purposes. But let's focus on the real hires that will likely influence the industry for a long time to come. Spot Ethereum ETFs are here. Nine different ETFs — issued by BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, Grayscale Investments, VanEck, Invesco US and Galaxy Digital, 21Shares, Hashdex, Franklin Templeton, and Bitwise Inc — have now hit the market. Combined, these issuers have more than $15 trillion in assets under management, according to Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst Eric Balchunas. Trading kicked off Tuesday morning in pre-market trading in New York. Volume is “significantly lighter than pre-market trading of Bitcoin ETFs on launch day,” said Matthew Hougan, chief investment officer at crypto index fund manager Bitwise, posted on X. “Still, good to see trading activity in the biggest expected players pre-market.” Tom Carreras reports. https://lnkd.in/gahX9ene
