Sharing some views from my Experience , Resistance to New Technology stems from a fear of being deemed irrelevant and it leads towards internal frictions and bickering between Team Members. To address such concerns , the first step as a lead / consultant should be towards understanding the Team's perspective and the root of all the causes behind reluctance to adopt technology. After understanding the concerns of the team , we should work towards opening up the market related concerns and provide reassurance to the team members As the final step towards addressing such concerns , we should provide training towards improving the overall skill of the team and making them market relevant This should allay all the fears among Team Members

I would expect a leader to set realistic goals, by breaking down the steps of the technology adoption process. Starting with basic training with set milestones for achieving proficiency at each stage. Encouraging early wins to build confidence and demonstrate progress. Regularly reviewing goals and adjusting them based on feedback and observed challenges. This all ensures the team doesn't feel overwhelmed and can steadily integrate the technology into their workflow. This approach builds trust, eases the transition, and ensures a smoother adoption process.

I have gone through this journey. I was leading a PMO for a Nasdaq listed fintech firm which had various products. Each team had their own governance & PM tech. One of my tasks was to centralize governance across all products which met with a lot of resistance. One of the Product teams (one with the highest revenue impact), didn't want to change their governance model or technologies. However, to centralize technological governance you need all teams using the same tool. In this case, the non-compliant product team continued with their team's own tech governance and gave me / my team some information to feed into centralized governance, which evolved over time. Moral of the story : Be realistic & adaptable. Rome wasn't built in a day.
