As a Learned Society, the Royal Aeronautical Society supports its members in further developing their knowledge and expertise through its E-Library service.  

Hosting over 600 textbooks and 2,250 full-text journals and magazines covering a wide range of technical fields and interests, the service provides RAeS members access to an online library with the flexibility to download separate chapters and individual diagrams.

The latest trends and developments

Society membership gives access to ProQuest’s Advanced Technologies & Aerospace Database. There are articles and papers from over 2,250 full-text journals and magazines including:

- News and insights from Flight International, Airline Business, Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Rotor & Wing, Defense & Aerospace Week and Flight Daily News.

- Technical papers and articles from the International Journal of Aerospace Engineering and Space Science Reviews, together with a selection of material from the Journal of Fluid Mechanics & the Society’s own Aeronautical Journal.

- Aviation historians can also enjoy articles and papers from Aviation History, Air Power History, Air Classics and Technology & Culture

Members can also sign up to receive regular updates on subjects of interest, plus find leads to further useful sources of information detailed in over 26 million records.

Boosting your professional development

If you need more detailed information designed to brush-up your skills and boost your professional development, try our e-books library.

This fully flexible online collection allows Society members to search for information and concepts across over 300 books, and, once you have found what you need, you can download separate chapters or even individual diagrams. Once you have created an account, you can then highlight text, add notes and electronically borrow the book for 24 hours.

The collection covers a wide variety of aviation and aerospace subjects including:

- green aviation

- aviation management, including support for first-time managers

- aerodynamics, including helicopter aerodynamics, flight dynamics and wind engineering

- propulsion, including gas turbine, rocket and scramjet propulsion

- structures, including aeroelasticity and composite materials

- space engineering, including design and propulsion

- air transport management, including finance, management, security, operations, economics, planning, forecasting & marketing.

- avionics, aircraft systems & aircraft maintenance

- biographies and history titles, including those covering aviation in World War I & II.

In addition, we also have a collection of over 300 e-books published by the AIAA.

If you cannot find what you are for looking on our e-library, or you prefer the feel of paper in your hands, you can also use the NAL library catalogue to select from over a thousand of the most recent aerospace textbooks to borrow by post. As well as books designed to help all aerospace professionals, we have masses of material that would satisfy every aero enthusiast.
