In today's rapidly evolving job market, traditional hiring practices often fall short of identifying a candidate’s true potential.
As employers strive for innovation and inclusivity, a shift towards skills-based hiring is gaining momentum.
This emerging approach prioritizes a candidate's abilities, competencies and potential over their formal education or previous roles.

How likely are you to approach HR to discuss a serious work-related issue or problem you're having?
According to a new HR Perception study from MyPerfectResume, 86% of workers reported being afraid of HR representatives. This fear isn’t merely a matter of apprehension; it stems from inadequate support and potential consequences, among other challenges.
In fact, 85% hesitated to approach HR to discuss work-related issues, citing concerns such as doubt in confidentiality (37%) or fear of repercussions (31%). Furthermore, 71% think that HR tends to be too involved in office politics.
Here's more on the study >> https://lnkd.in/eueB2r3T
In my former corporate life, I've personally lived numerous examples of HR staff engaging in all of the above damaging behaviors - including taking sides in office politics, breaking confidentiality and gossiping about employees, not doing their best (and not doing their jobs) to support employees who were suffering under the hands of toxic managers and behavior, and finally, penalizing people for coming forth.
And in my career and leadership coaching work today with professionals, HR staff and issues come up a great deal. (And a number of my clients are HR professionals trying to leave toxic cultures.)
ALL of this negative, destructive behavior has to stop if HR teams are to be respected, trusted and effective in their roles.
On the flip side, over the past 40 years, I've worked with some truly wonderful, caring and highly effective (and highly-trained) HR folks who have had a great, positive impact on their work cultures and on their leadership teams and organizations as a whole.
I'd love to hear your candid opinion in my poll below - how likely would you be to discuss with HR a serious work-related problem you're having?
(Please refrain from voting below if you are in HR or ever have been).
Your honest vote and comments below will help organizations and HR teams understand more clearly the challenges employees have in trusting HR in revealing what's truly happening to them in the workplace, and perhaps help them rethink how to address these fears employees have about HR staff.
Thank you!
