Growth In Specialty Master’s Causes Careers Group To Drop MBA From Name

The growth of specialty master’s degrees in business has led the MBA Career Services & Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA) to drop the MBA from its name. The change, to the Career Services & Employer Alliance (CSEA), is effective immediately.

The decision to change the organization’s name and update the visual identity was driven by feedback from members and non-members about the growth of specialty/business master’s populations on a global scale. To be fully inclusive of the current membership and allow for future growth, the “MBA” was removed.

The organization said it will continue to serve MBA programs but is now clarifying through its external brand and messaging that the programs and services include all business masters programs, which includes MBAs. “Business Masters” was deliberately included in the new tagline to recognize the distinct populations that are served.

The name change process took place throughout a one-year period and included multiple touchpoints with members and prospective members. A clear priority was to maintain the brand loyalty and history that has contributed to the organization’s success over the last 30 years, which is a primary goal of the name change. While the name and visual identity have been updated, the mission, vision and values remain the same.

“The change represents our commitment to continue to not only meet but exceed the expectations of our membership, providing professional development and networking opportunities for all business masters populations on a global scale,” said Megan Hendricks, CSEA executive director, in a statement.
