MBA Handicapping: 30-Something Outliers — Know How To Take Stock & Sell Yourself

Enita is a 36-year-old accountant from Zimbabwe who is hoping to gain admission to a top U.S. business school with a standardized test waiver. And so far, most of the schools to which she applied in round two–MIT Sloan, NYU Stern, Cornell Johnson, UVA Darden, and Michigan Ross–have already granted her a waiver on the GMAT and GRE.

But what are her chances of actually being admitted to those schools when the average age of an entering MBA student is between 26 and 28?

In this episode of Friday’s With Sandy, HBSGuru.com Founder Sandy Kreisberg assesses her odds and Poets&Quants Founder John A. Byrne suggests that she apply to Cambridge Judge because the school is more likely to accept an older candidate like Enita.

After all, she has worked as an auditor for two global companies–and currently lives in Bermuda, working as an account executive for an insurance company. For three and one-half years, she also worked an a senior auditor for the Office of the Auditor General in Zimbabwe.
