Jake Williamson: Embracing Who You Are

Jake Williamson: Embracing Who You Are

Joining me on the podcast today is Jake Williamson, hybrid athlete, world record holder, former semi professional footballer, and member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Jake is one of the biggest names in Hyrox, breaking records and brining so much positivity to the sport. His journey is a special one, from holding back who he really was in the football world, to finally coming out and accepting himself, to then be shut out by people around him for his sexuality. Jake has since advocated for people to speak out, you have one shot at life so we must embrace every second. Jake was so open and honest in this episode, is was refreshing to see how he approaches life, and how he has turned his struggles into a positive not only for himself but a much larger scale through his audience online as well as being an Ambassador for the LGBTQ+ charity, Stonewall.

There is so much can be learnt from this episode as well as inspiration for anyone who listens to take a step on that path to begin a journey of happiness.

    Tom Gilbey: The Wine W*nker

    Tom Gilbey: The Wine W*nker

Joining me on the podcast today is one of the most kind and funny, down to earth people I’ve recently met - the hilariously clever Tom Gilbey aka The Wine guy.

You are probably wondering why on earth my next guest’s career is drinking wine and if you are watching this, why I’m sitting here in a tuxedo… but if you watched anything on socials about the London marathon, I’m very sure you would have heard about the brilliant Tom. Tom blasted on everyone’s screens after he ran the London marathon for Sobell House Hospice, but what was different about Tom’s marathon was that with every mile he blind tasted a wine. What I love about Tom is his attitude to life, life is about balance, and why can’t he run a marathon and drink wine all the way through it? Tom vouches for not taking life too seriously and it really is so refreshing to see what he has achieved by doing exactly that. In this episode we discuss his rise on socials alongside why being the wine guy doesn’t mean you can’t be a runner…I also make him do a particularly different type of wine tasting than he is used to! This really was one of the funniest episodes we’ve had, and I hope you enjoy it!

Imogen Boddy: Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

Imogen Boddy: Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

Joining me on the podcast this week is world record holder - Imogen Boddy. This year she completed her biggest challenge yet and became the fastest female in history to run the three peaks. Having only taken up running three years ago, her legacy is already remarkable one at the young age of 24, after also becoming the youngest female to run John O’Groats to Land’s End. Even the sky is no limit for her, her determination and grit will enable her to achieve anything she sets her mind on. In this episode we hear about the driving forces that push Imo to do these challenge’s, what her ambitions are and what her greatest learnings have been since taking up running. Age can often be a reason for not trying something, Imo is a testament to so many that it’s never too early to start something.

    Ryan Libbey: Exercising The Demons

    Ryan Libbey: Exercising The Demons

Joining me on the Podcast tomorrow Is TV personality, hybrid athlete, father, and my good friend Ryan Libbey aka big bear.

In this episode, we reflect on the past few years, from life on TV to becoming a father. In 2021, Ryan’s partner Louise, suffered a horrific experience during the birth of their first child Leo, leading to both physical and mental complications. Ryan is extremely open about his own experience during this time, becoming the primary caregiver for both his partner and child.

Ryan discusses the monumental hurdles he and his family have had to face over the last two years, his resilience and strength is something I greatly admire. In this episode he reveals his upcoming running challenge, and his pursuit for peace. This episode is a powerful one, which will help so many. I couldn’t be prouder of him for being so open and vulnerable.

Anya Culling: It’s Never Too Late

Anya Culling: It’s Never Too Late

Joining me on the podcast is elite runner Anya Culling. Three years ago I met Anya during a walk in Norfolk, since then she’s honestly blown me away with her journey. When I first met her, she’d only just really taken up running, her story is remarkable and one that leaves so many questions to be answered. In the space of two years she has gone from not really being a runner to shaving off two hours on her personal best time with a quickest marathon time to date being two hours and 34 minutes, earning herself a call up to represent England.

Anya’s your story has gripped the nation and has sent the  message that it really is never too late to start something. I honestly love her vulnerability and her rawness, no matter the position she finishes, she is, in my opinion the people’s champion. Every time she steps foot on that start line it’s a reminder of what’s possible to anyone and to people of all abilities. From a first time runner to elites, we can all take inspiration from Anya’s story.

Lucy Reeves: Numbers Don’t Define Happiness

Lucy Reeves: Numbers Don’t Define Happiness

    Have numbers dictated your happiness?

Joining me on the podcast today is Hybrid athlete and influencer Lucy Reeves. Lucy is such a relatable person, so much of her life has been a battle with her mind, and accepting the body she has. Her journey of trial and error to find solutions to improve this has made her realize that happiness isn’t defined by numbers.

In this episode it was fascinating to hear the pros and cons that have come from her initial investment into the bodybuilding world. Training 6 days a week but unable to walk up a hill without being breathless. Her passion for the perfect physic is what led to the demise in her mental health. With a more versatile approach to fitness, less focused on her body, it has helped heal the relationship with her body. This is something most men and women will have struggled with at some point.

Lucy then began running. Running has been instrumental at reminding her what of she’s capable of, and helped to silence the voices in her head.

I believe this episode will help a lot of people going through their own personal journey into fitness, and give you reassurance that you’re not the only one feeling, or going through something like this.

Exercising the demons

I’ve never really been in to podcasts but you had me captivated. I follow your content on Instagram anyway but you have a way of drawing people in, your tone of voice and mannerisms, I find calming.
This content was brilliant, it really made me think about how males feelings can often be disregarded in many different situations. I also loved the conversation about how we’re our children’s role models - I don’t think about that often enough - and the beauty of having dreams.
Very inspiring and good food for thought - thank you!
