Audio recorder - is an open source application makes an easy audio recording experience.
App optimized for the fastest start as possible and helps not to miss important sound for the user.
There are few recording formats available:
M4A format is encoded with AAC audio codec has good quality and small size.
Waveform Audio File Format (WAVE, or WAV) audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs. Stores audio data uncompressed.
3gp is a multimedia container format developed for mobile telecommunication services. Use it if you need to save space.
In settings, select sample rate, bitrate (for M4A and 3GP only) and stereo or mono.
Selected preferences directly affect on record file size.
With colorful themes, customize app looking, and make the experience better for you.

Some apps will stop recording or have glitches when turning the screen off. Not this one though! I hit the power button to shut off screen and to my surprise the recording continued seamlessly. The main feature of this app allows you to record high quality audio. Sounds great. Oh and I just noticed the developers are Ukrainian! Glory to Ukraine!! Hope you all have managed to stay safe throughout this conflict. The entire world stands with you. Thanks for the great audio recorder!

Perfect, and no ads. The settings and context interfaces are a little different, but well worth taking a couple of minutes to familiarize yourself with. The initial storage location is the app's private directory. This is perfect for preventing other apps from accessing your private notes and ideas. You can change this to a pre-defined public directory, or in the context menu download the private files to your system Download directory for transfer to laptop or other file management. File deletion for the private location is performed in the app's context menu, with option for instant permanent deletion. Internal trash is otherwise emptied in 60 days. The option exists to record in m4a, 3gp, or wav (if you don't want to deal with compressed formats). I don't know what more you could ask for in a free, no-ad audio recorder. This is much better than any ad-infested app I have tried.

Simple, straightforward audio recorder, no ads, no limitations to induce purchase. 5 stars. FLAC format support would be nice addition but no big deal. Also would be nice to be able to select from front or back mic. To reviewer critical of file locations, the version I'm using has ability to save as from its native directory to downloads folder, besides clearly showing the full parh to local storage of audio records. This app goes out of its way to make locating recorded files very simple. Bravo
