Farout has a horrendous user interface and is full of bugs, but people use it because in most cases it is the only app that shows specific information for long distance trails. Farout seems much more interested in churning out new trails to sell than make an app that works well for their users. They should focus on the app for a while and not new trails. Worst yet, the information like shipping addresses often incorrect and leads to lost packages. Don't trust info provided by this app!

No way to view purchased maps without downloading. Unfortunately now I have tons of purchased maps I basically can't use. Caltopo is far better anyways ---- after comment: The review responder doesn't seem to understand you used to be able to load maps and limited assets without downloading first, for planning etc, it just retrieves them in the context of the app- like caltopo, Gaia, etc. This stopped with the reband to far out. I assume to save API and CDN costs.

I wrote the app so I'm pretty sure I understand how it works. ;) I just figured out what you mean -- we updated it in 2017 so that you do need to download each guide before initial use so that it doesn't take forever for the app to download the first time. It takes less than 30 seconds to download a guide. Sorry you are unhappy about that. :(

FarOut is the best navigation app for long trails that is currently available, but the software is riddled with problems: maps won't load sometimes for unknown reasons, the app constantly signs me out of my account which prevents me from using most of the features, switching from one trail to another is clunky and unintuitive. The app usually does everything I need it to, but the user interface leaves much to be desired. It's not a perfect app, but it's the only one of its kind.
