We engage in initiatives with care about the needs of our planet. Thanks to the fruitful (or rather tree-ful) cooperation with Dotlenieni.org, we have successfully planted approximately 2000 trees on areas which require afforestation, and on new greenery spaces.🌳 This way, we have joined the group of Global Green Business Greenery Creators. We are very thankful for this award! 💚 Angażujemy się w inicjatywy z troską o potrzeby naszej planety. Dzięki owocnej (a raczej drzewnej) współpracy z organizacją Dotlenieni.org, udało nam się posadzić blisko 2 000 drzew na terenach wymagających zalesień oraz tworzących nowe zielone przestrzenie.🌳 Tym samym dołączyliśmy do grona Twórców Zieleni Global Green Business. Dziękujemy za to wyróżnienie! 💚 #sustainable #marketing #esg #cooporation #plantingtrees #ecology #marketingagency

Today I had the privilege of visiting the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, where I received an inspiring guided tour by my dear former colleague and current Hortus director, Carlien Blok. The Hortus is an oasis of peace in the middle of an always hectic city, and a center for education, research, nature conservation and biodiversity. I was raised with the idea that nature takes care of me as a human being, and that it is therefore incredibly important that I also nurture nature (Ha! See what I did there...). I often miss that - so valuable - realization that people are part of nature, and I sometimes also see this reflected in my work for The Terrace: while things like CO2-reduction appeal to the imagination and lead to concrete action, something like biodiversity is often still unfamiliar terrain. Which is, come to think of it, a bit weird. Biodiversity and balanced ecosystems safeguard the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, and with all this, your health. Walking through the Hortus, every leaf, stem and butterfly confronts you with the power of nature, but at the same time with its fragility. Nature is of vital importance to humanity, our lives literally depend on it. It is therefore essential that we learn more about the importance of conserving ecosystems, biodiversity and the delicate balance of life on our planet. My visit today was a powerful reminder of the parallels between my work in sustainability and Hortus' mission. Both our sustainability efforts have a meaningful impact, comparable to the individual yet intertwined ecosystems within the Hortus. Precisely because we are all different, we can collectively stimulate change and contribute to a more sustainable world for generations to come. In the massive challenge that lies before us, everyone has a part to play. Ready for ldress rehearsal? 🌍 💚 #justsomethoughts #Inspirationaltuesday #Sustainability #HortusBotanicus #Amsterdam #Biodiversity #SustainableFuture #KlimaatGesprekken

Our Biodiversity Index har been nominated ’Welcome of the Year’ at Estate Media Danmarks 'Ejendomsprisen 2023'! The title goes to a new company or initiative that has notable and interesting contributions to the industry's development in an innovative manner. Outdoor spaces around properties have a great potential to make a significant difference on natures diversity. 🌍🌱 Our team ‘Sustainability - Certification & Outdoor’ are our experts in biodiversity and has recently launched the index together with Anlægsgartner Gottlieb A/S. 📈🌿 This innovative screening method allows us to quantify and measure biodiversity accurately. By assessing various parameters our index assigns a specific score to each outdoor space. This score enables us to document improvements over time, making the biodiversity impact tangible and measurable. 📊🌱 It's a concrete way to evaluate the quality of green spaces before and after implementing initiatives. And it empowers us to demonstrate how investments have contributed to a positive change in our environment. We are super proud to be nominated with a strong field of nominees: Bettina Antitsch Mortensen Julie Rømsing ProfSyn Urban Partners 🗳 You can give your vote via the following link until Friday, August 25th: https://lnkd.in/g-egHzJ. World Environment Day 2024 You might wonder if every day shouldn't be World Environment Day. And in essence, it is. Such a day reminds us that our inner and outer worlds are intrinsically connected. What we do to nature, we do to ourselves. I was reminded of what Aldo Leopold wrote in his inspiring book 'A Sand County Almanac' (1949): "We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect" He considers a community that includes soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land. At the heart of our initiatives to achieve large-scale holistic landscape restoration, besides knowledge, begins with a deeper process of purpose, a journey that is sorely needed especially in the western world. Therefore, our conversations with stakeholders in a landscape are first about the Return of Inspiration (RoI) to connect with ourselves, each other and the land. This is followed by mapping the social, natural and financial returns, creating a long-term perspective that does justice to people, nature and income. It helps to create trust and a deeper understanding before working on the technical agro and ecological details. Not easy, but we increasingly see that this is the way to achieve and oversee long-term landscape partnerships. Like recently on the Iberian Peninsula, where 10 landscapes initiatives came together organised by our partner Fundación Aland to bring under restoration an area of more than 2.5 million hectares in Spain and Portugal, the Iberian network of Regenerative Territories or Landscapes. https://lnkd.in/eSSt4qf7 AlVelAl Danyadara Earthworm Foundation EURECAT Fundación Global Nature GOB Menorca Fundación Grazalema Regenerativa Astrid Vargas Terra Sintrópica The Pioneers of our Time Foundation esdime Fundación Internacional para la Restauración de Ecosistemas FIRE Meghan Sapp José M. The Guardian of Nature During the Covid-19 lockdown, we were briefed to launch a new gin that supports the conservation of the South African San Parks. This concept aims to encompass three core beliefs/practices of SANParks: 1. Nature Conservation 2. Connecting Societies 3. Ecotourism This concept pays homage to SANParks and what they stand for. More than that, it includes the consumer in being a “Guardian of Nature” themselves. The aim is to communicate the philosophy of SANParks and being a “Guardian of Nature” through a compelling narrative and visuals. Brand Promise: With every sip of Guardian Gin you are protecting our natural resources and taking a stand for conservation. In true spirit of SANParks’ vision of “reconnecting and inspiring society”, 10% of the purchase price goes towards the development, protection, management and promotion of this world class system of sustainable national parkshttps://lnkd.in/dHt2wfuX

We’re committed to enhancing biodiversity and making both our existing homes and new developments more sustainable. We’re making a difference by working closely with qualified ecologists and Natural England to safeguard wildlife at our new Webber’s Piece development. From hazel trees to nesting boxes, we’re providing habitats for protected species to make sure they can continue to live safely, and we’ve also relocated dormice and reptiles to new protected locations. We’re also working on a new Magna Homes and Estate Standard to develop a cross-business approach to define how our homes and estates will be improved and developed to create homes fit for the future. The standard will include provision to meet, and aim to exceed, the 10% Biodiversity Net Gain standard. Aisla Exley, Sustainability Business Partner at Magna, has been working hard to make sure that sustainability is considered in every corner of the business. She said: “Magna is working to embed sustainable practices across our work. Improving the use of land and increasing biodiversity has benefits not only for the environment but for our customers and communities, making our homes and estates great places to live.” Looking to the future, we plan to retrofit many of our existing homes, continue to construct affordable housing in a sustainable way, and look at our land to identify sites where we can enhance the biodiversity to create greener communities. You can find out more about the homes we’re building here 👉 loom.ly/LfYBKYM #WorldEnvironmentDay #sustainability #environment #biodiversity

Since 2020, the Rainforest Alliance has been working alongside a diverse range of stakeholders to improve agricultural practices and human wellbeing through the promotion of sustainable practices and livelihood creation in Sierra de Tapalpa—a landscape in Jalisco, Mexico with diverse ecosystems, wildlife, and rich cultural history that fosters a sanctuary for the 48,000 people who reside there. 🌿 However, due to unsustainable practices, the fragile landscape faces risks for both people and nature. This is why we're using LandScale to monitor and evaluate the landscape-scale interventions that are being carried out, and underpin the action-plans being created to help continue to improve #Sustainability in Sierra de Tapalpa. Dive into this latest case study that looks at how we have been working with local communities to improve sustainability, and how we've used LandScale to guide our actions! 👇 #RainforestAlliance #SustainableBusiness #LandScale #Landscapes #SierradeTapalpa #PositiveChange #Certification #Livelihoods

Buzz buzz 🐝 I recently read UK biologist Dave Goulson’s book, “A Sting in the Tale: My Adventures with Bumblebees” (Finnish translation version: Kimalaisen kyydissä—Matka mesipistiäisten maailmaan). Not only was the book easy to follow for someone with minimal knowledge of biology, but Dave also does a wonderful job of gently cajoling the reader to do their part in the bumblebee preservation efforts. If you’re looking for a new book to read this spring, look no further. Maybe you will even be inspired to take the bumblebees into consideration when you start your gardening work this year 🌸🐝 By the end of the book, I personally felt responsible for helping some of Earth’s smallest yet most precious residents. Since I live in an apartment in the city, I decided to reach out to the Kuopion kaupunki - City of Kuopio parks department suggesting that some of the grassy areas in the city be converted to wild flower patches, providing food for the bumblebees but also enjoyment for the city dwellers. This type of regeneration work is imperative to reverse the trend of biodiversity loss not only for bumblebees but for all sorts of other species as well. Luckily, environmental regeneration is built into circular economy theory. When innovating circular economy solutions, we shouldn’t try to only eliminate our negative impact on the environment but we should also strive to better the environment around us so that biodiversity loss can be stopped—in essence, we need to figure out how to be net positive, not just net zero, in our environmental impact. For example, in addition to using completely circular materials, we could make products that actually absorb CO2 emissions or create business models that directly feed funds into reliable third-party regeneration efforts. #regenerative #circulareconomy #regeneration #environmentalsustainability #thefutureiscircular #circularsolutions #circularinnovations #wearecreate Tietoevry
