⚽️🏈 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲+ 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - 𝐀 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦 This past weekend, Amsterdam was abuzz with the spirit of competition as it hosted the esteemed Baker McKenzie ⚽️🏈Fluency+ Tournament. A total of #33 teams from across Europe and beyond, including representatives from the USA and Japan, came together to showcase their skills and passion for the game of football (and also tag rugby), and to compete for the prestigious #FluencyCup. Our Warsaw office was proudly represented by a resolute team, led by captain Łukasz Targoszyński. The team was composed of Elwira Korzeniewska, Joanna Lis, Justyna Glinka, Marta Tomczak, Stanisław Gorzeliński, Andrzej Makowiecki, Damian Domański, Michał Nowak, Jakub Dobrogoszcz and Konrad Rutkowski, and displayed remarkable teamwork and a strategic approach to the game. The #FluencyCup is more than just a tournament; it’s a tradition that has grown into an international event with about #400 participants. After a hiatus caused to the pandemic, the Cup returned with a new rule requiring at least two women on the field, reflecting our commitment to diversity and inclusion. The journey to the ⚽️ 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲+ 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 is a marathon, not a sprint. It involves months of intense preparation and regular training sessions. Our female team members, in particular, have been training since 2020, never losing hope of competing in the tournament whenever it returned. On the eve of the tournament, while other teams enjoyed the hospitality of our Baker McKenzie Amsterdam, our Polish team devised a detailed tactical plan to ensure success. Our strategy was simple yet effective: a solid defence to prevent goals and create opportunities for our swift players to score. After some strong performances on the first day and no goals conceded until the last game of the day, our team was in a good position to advance to the semi-final. On day two, we were unfortunate to ran into a spirited Barcelona team (who happened to win the entire tournament), and despite a strong showing, we lost the game only by a small margin. We won all remaining games and finally finished the tournament in 🏆 5th place. Nonetheless, we are proud of this achievement and already know what to improve upon to take the trophy home next year! 🏆 Congratulations to all the winning teams from the Baker McKenzie offices: Barcelona (Baker McKenzie Spain) and Geneva/Zurich (Baker McKenzie Switzerland) secured the top two spots, showcasing incredible skill and determination. Amsterdam (Baker McKenzie Amsterdam) deservedly took the third place, while #BakerMcKenzieUSA impressed everyone by claiming the fourth spot. #BakerMcKenziePolska #FluencyCup #Teamwork #GlobalEvent #Sport #Football
