About

The art of tomorrow today

Guided by values that include freedom, generosity, rigour and the importance of community, PHI devotes itself to the innovation and evolution of cultural experiences that both challenge and delight.

PHI Web Apropos

The public is as central to art as art is to the public. Aiming for accessibility, PHI connects with a wide and varied set of creative practitioners and audiences through its range of programming, production activities and the many opportunities generated by its initiatives. Engaging with a broad set of perspectives is paramount to PHI, not only as an imperative of our era, but also because it is fundamental to PHI’s mission.

OUR VALUES

Commitment

Art and culture are essential pillars in maintaining a healthy and sustainable society. Our teams are invested in enacting PHI's mission and vision on a daily basis. As a result, we are committed to sharing and encouraging the work of artists and defending their questions and explorations that reflect our collective reality.

Collaboration

By joining forces, we create value for us all. Every voice and every talent contributes to enriching PHI. We offer space for dialogue, exchange and experimentation that encourages active participation. Our strength lies in our approach, working in concert with artists, innovative minds and institutions from around the world.

Avant-garde

We embrace novelty, experimentation and pioneering spirit. PHI is a laboratory where new ideas take shape, where artists push beyond their own limits and where innovation is encouraged. Looking to the future, we are committed to listening to the voices of creators and our collaborators, offering them a space for expression and reflection.

Integrity

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethics and honesty in everything we do. In harmony with our values and mission, we strive to act collectively with transparency and accountability with our colleagues, artists, public, and communities at large. We strive to build a culture of trust by fostering responsiveness and humility.

Caring

Above all, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels heard and supported, defending best practices in equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion. We actively seek to eliminate barriers that prevent full participation in our activities, prioritizing empathy and respect in all our interactions.

PHI MUSE

A multidisciplinary arts organization founded in 2016, PHI Muse showcases the unusual aspect of artworks at the junction of art and technology. The organization develops and presents artistic initiatives, immersive installations and educational activities.

Land Acknowledgment

We would like to acknowledge that PHI (the Foundation and the Centre) is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehà:ka Nation is recognized as the custodian of the lands and waters on which we gather today. Tiohtià:ke/Montreal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montréal community.

Sustainability According to PHI

PHI understands that its commitment to sustainability can be its legacy. It is integral to its role as a cultural leader—and its promise to the next generation. It recognizes the three pillars of sustainability—environmental, social and economic, but also proposes that we recognize the importance of both technological and cultural sustainability. Technological and cultural sustainability represent a progressive understanding of the ways in which the world and our values are evolving.
