IMPACT IN NUMBERS: Over 1.3 million people in 16 regions were affected by the combined effects caused by the southwest monsoon (Habagat), Tropical Depression Butchoy, and Super Typhoon Carina, based on the latest situation report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The death toll has risen to 14 while 29 cities and municipalities are under State of Calamity due to heavy rainfall and massive flooding. The cost of damages to houses, agriculture, and infrastructure has reached approximately Php14 million. Through the Project 7 community involvement initiative, 17 employees of Seven Consulting Philippines showcased their teamwork and determination to help complete the multipurpose center at the Bignay-Maunlad Socialized Housing Project site in Valenzuela City, last July 20. Beaming with smiles and radiating hope, the volunteers had fun with construction activities such as hauling sand, sieving, sanding walls, skim coating, cement mixing, and rebar fabrication.   "It's nice to be back and help build a community. LOOK: Developing digitally-competent Habitat communities! Through the gifts-in-kind donation from Tala Financing Philippines Inc., we handed over 8 desktop computers with complete set-up to Habitat Homeowners' Federation Inc., composed of homeowners associations (HOAs) across NCR. These include monitors, accessories, computer processing units, and automatic voltage generators. Representatives of the HOA Federation received the items last July 12 and have distributed to various HOAs. Thirty-two more desktop computers are yet to be distributed to other associations. The gifts-in-kind will support and equip HOAs in their day-to-day operations such as in preparing various reports, communications, and organizing and safekeeping important documents. Last Saturday, July 6, 34 employees of Amazon Philippines brought their passion and energy back to Valenzuela City to help build the multipurpose center at the Bignay-Maunlad Socialized Housing Project site. Equipped with construction tools, safety gears, and the heart to make a community impact, Amazonians engaged in activities such as skim coating, hauling of earthfill, backfilling, and sand sieving. Gerard, an employee and a second-time volunteer in Bignay, shared why his experience is special: "We were under the sun for hours but it's fun because I gained friends as we built together while serving the community.
