Valerie Bertinelli Shares Her Emotional New Year’s Resolution for 2024

Valerie Bertinelli has an empowering New Year’s resolution for 2024.

In an Instagram post shared on Jan. 1, the Food Network star posted a video detailing her goal for the new year.

In the video, Bertinelli takes a deep breath while audio of Selena Gomez plays. In the sound, which is from a 2022 interview, the Only Murders in the Building star says, “I’m never going to let anyone ever again make me feel that way.” At the end of the sentiment, Bertinelli smiles at the camera.

“my new year resolution ✌🏻🤍” she simply wrote in the caption.

The celebrity chef has reflected and recapped her transformative 2023 in several videos. She shared an Instagram Reel ahead of the Christmas holiday and another video montage on New Year’s Day.

Much like her first roundup, her second reel included snaps from a trip to Amsterdam, clips from her son Wolfgang Van Halen's shows with his band Mammoth WVH and moments from Wolfgang's wedding.

Bertinelli also snuck some fun clips from Taylor Swift's Eras Tour into the video as well as some flicks she took on a trip to Paris. She even got a new tattoo.

"It’s been quite the journey this year! 🥹 🥰 You can see the relief and even a little fear in the opening clip (shot on January 1, 2023) and the pure joy that starts to take hold as I find my way back to myself throughout the year. (shout out to my therapist for kindly walking me through all the uncomfortable emotional work 😅)," Bertinelli captioned the post.

She continued: "I have so much gratitude for my family and friends, finally being able to freely spend time with them has been such a big source of comfort, joy, hilarity, and healing. I love them all so. ✨♥️"

Bertinelli also thanked her "community here online" for sharing their stories and insight with her.

"And do me a favor? Indulge in your life. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Feel it all, then do your best to release what doesn’t belong to you. Please don’t tolerate the intolerable. You deserve better. We all do," she concluded. "We deserve the best this life has to offer. We ARE enough and I am so thankful for every single one of you. 🥹💖 Here’s to a glorious 2024! 🥂💫"

While her 2023 celebrated the beginning of new milestones, like Wolfgang’s marriage to longtime love Andraia Allsop in October, it also the anniversary for some closed chapters.

In November, Bertinelli marked one year since finalizing her divorce with ex-husband Tom Vitale.

Bertinelli celebrated the milestone by re-posting her Instagram video from a year ago in which she announced that her divorce was official. In the November 2022 post, she shared a clip captured at an airport on the way to see her son and revealed the news. 

To mark the one-year milestone, she wrote with the re-post: "What a difference a year makes 🥹🥰."
