'RHOC's' Braunwyn Windham-Burke's Husband Says It Was a 'Relief' When She Decided to Come Out

The Bravo star opened up about her sexuality in an interview with GLAAD last month

Sean Burke says that seeing his wife, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, finally come to terms with her sexuality was a "relief" for the pair.

On Wednesday's The Real Housewives of Orange County reunion, Windham-Burke, 43, brought out her husband after fielding questions about her "confusing" romantic relationships all season.

Last year, Windham-Burke came out as a lesbian and revealed she is currently dating a woman during a candid interview with GLAAD.

During this week's reunion, Burke opened up to Andy Cohen about what he described as "the elephant in the room" in the pair's relationship.

The candid conversation began with Windham-Burke admitting that she has "never been attracted to men physically," including Burke, who she has been married for over 20 years. "It breaks my heart to say that," she said, as Burke added that it "absolutely" hurt him to hear.

Cohen, 52, then asked, "What was your reaction when Braunwyn finally said, 'Look, this is who I am'?" Burke responded, "In some ways it was a relief."

"It really was," he added. "Because the elephant in the room is, this isn't something we can't fix. She's attracted to women."

In her GLAAD interview, Windham-Burke revealed, "I like women. I'm gay."

She continued, "I'm a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It has taken me 42 years to say that but I am so proud of where I am right now. I'm so happy where I am. To be able to be comfortable in my own skin after so long is just so nice."

Since coming out, the Bravo star has been open about her relationship with Burke and their difficulties adapting to her revelation. Although Windham-Burke has previously said that she and her husband currently have no plans to divorce, she also admitted that she has "no idea" if they'll stay married.

"But we'd like to and are trying to make that work in therapy," she said during a fan Q&A earlier this month, later adding that "things are calming down" and "we're finding a new normal."

During the RHOC reunion, both Burke and Windham-Burke also noted that while they have told their oldest children about their new arrangement — remaining married while dating other people — their youngest kids do not yet know.

The pair share seven children together — Hazel, 2, Koa, 4, twins Caden and Curran, 7, Jacob, 15, Rowan, 18, and Bella, 20.

"I hope we can find a way to make this work so that we're all happy," Windham-Burke said of the future. "I hope we can stay living together. I hope we can say being parents, co-parents."

"I hope that we can maintain a good decent structure for our kids so they can actually have something healthy and see something different," Burke added. "And what is the next thing? I'm not sure but right now this is better, so we're just taking those steps to see where it goes."
