Eddie Van Halen

Eddie Van Halen was a guitarist, singer-songwriter and founder of the hard rock band Van Halen. He rose to fame in 1977 when his band caught the eye of Gene Simmons while performing at a local bar in Los Angeles. Simmons helped the band produce their first recording session. They released several multiplatinum albums, including Van Halen (1978), Van Halen II (1979), Women and Children First (1980) and Fair Warning (1981). Their 1984 (1984) album topped the charts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, featuring classic hits such as "Jump," "Panama" and "Hot for Teacher." In 2007, Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He died from cancer in October 2020.
