Bradley Cooper Says His Daughter with Irina Shayk 'Looks Just Like' His Late Father at Times

Bradley Cooper admitted in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that he sometimes sees the likeness of his father Charles, who died in 2011, in daughter Lea

Bradley Cooper‘s daughter is reminding him of another person he loved dearly.

In a Tuesday chat with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square in New York City, the A Star Is Born actor and director admitted he sometimes sees his own dad Charles — who died in 2011 after a battle with lung cancer — in his 22-month-old baby girl, Lea De Seine.

“[Having a family has] changed everything. Our daughter, she’s incredible. And I see my father in her quite often,” Cooper, 44, said of his first child with girlfriend Irina Shayk.

“I can’t believe I’m gonna admit this, but I had moments when … I was in the room with her, I would say, ‘Dad?’ ” he continued. “There are some moments where she looks just like my father. I watch too many movies.”

A Star Is Born is the first project Cooper has slowed down for — something he attributes to his new family.

“The one thing that I know in the future is: It’s worth all the time to dedicate, even if one piece of art comes out of it in a half a decade, that would still be incredible as long as I can feel like it’s the movie I wanted to make, which is this movie,” he told NPR in September.

Cooper continued, “So I guess having a child, and having a family of my own — which is a miracle and something I’ve always dreamt of — has opened me up even more, I guess, to the day, and to be present.”

In October, supermodel Shayk opened up to PEOPLE about motherhood and the expectations of perfection she has had to face since welcoming Lea in March 2017.

“I’m the mom who’s always checking in,” she said, adding of having mom guilt, “I’m really hard on myself.”

Her way of dealing? Recognizing she’s not alone. “Everyone has it,” Shayk, 33, pointed out. “Time passes so fast. You just have to try to live in the moment.”
