"No one else faxes," said Cyrus of Parton in a new interview, after several other stars have spoken about the "Jolene" singer's penchant for fax messaging

Anyone who talks to Dolly Parton needs to keep a fax machine on hand — including Miley Cyrus.

The two-time Grammy-winning singer, 31, opened up in a new cover story interview with W Magazine about the sweet fax messages she receives from Parton, her godmother — as well as a very unique Christmas gift the 78-year-old country icon gave her.

"Dolly’s been like a mother to me," said Cyrus, before recalling a "fax that she sent me two Mother’s Days ago" and speaking about Parton's unique penchant for fax messaging.

"No one else faxes. I literally have to access my lawyer’s office, because the lawyer is the only person who can still receive a fax," she explained. "Dolly wrote to me to say: 'How much do I love you? As much as my heart can hold and as far as my arms can reach.' It gets me choked up."

Cyrus continued, "I just love her so much. Last Christmas, she gave me a whole mannequin, done in her proportions and wearing her outfit. It’s so major."

In an interview on The View last year, Parton explained why she remains committed to the fax machine, noting that she's not interested in getting "into that world" of text messages, emails and social media platforms: "I'm surrounded by enough people."

"Kenny Rogers used to aggravate me about it," she said at the time. "I said, ‘Look, I’ll send you a message by carrier pigeon if I need to get in touch with you. You always seem to know how to reach me when you want something!'"

"So I actually, I never did get into getting involved in all that because it’ll take up too much of my time if I tried to get in touch with everybody who is trying to get in touch with me," Parton continued. "So I just say, ‘Fax me! Fax me or call me and I’ll call you back.’"

Fellow country icon Reba McEntire spoke about faxing Parton to collaborate on their duet version of 1993's "Does He Love You," during an interview with Apple Music's Southern Accents Radio in 2022.

"You don't call Dolly, you fax her," McEntire, 68, said. "You fax your people and your people talk to her people. That's the only way I know to get ahold of her."
