As the world continues to tune into the 2024 NBA Draft, Chicago rapper Lil Durk is especially invested and even offered to put up funds to secure father-son basketball duo Lebron James and Bronny James for his hometown team.

On Tuesday, June 25, the rapper, 31, tapped into the power of social media and initially sent LeBron, 39, a direct message, writing “You and bronny come to Chicago bulls s**t I’ll pay you if I got to,” according to Billboard. To ensure that he message was received, Durk added a second message to his Instagram Stories that read, “idc if I got to go half @ChicagoBulls it’s time lol.”

If drafted by the Lakers, Bronny and LeBron would make history as the NBA’s first father and son to actively play together. But that is not only dependent on Bronny being drafted by the team, but also if LeBron chooses to continue playing instead of retiring, Yahoo! Sports reported.

Bronny announced he declared for the NBA Draft back in April via an Instagram post. “I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added growth for me as a man, student and athlete. I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal.”

He continued, adding “Thank you to USC for an amazing freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.”
