So Many Celebrity Couples Travel with This Luggage Brand — and After Using It Myself, I Understand Why

Welcome to The A-List, where we review the products your favorite celebrities wear and use that we actually really love, too.

Next time you’re in an airport, look around for Away luggage (its signature subtle horizontal lines are a dead giveaway). My bet is that you’ll spot at least three suitcases at your gate alone.

Thanks to its heavy A-list backing, plenty of friends who are happy with their investment in the brand, and a carry-on suitcase that was on its last leg (literally — a wheel broke off), I recently decided to take Away luggage for a spin myself. A few months ago, the brand sent me the Bigger Carry-On in black, and now, I understand why so many stars and shoppers approve.

Away luggage has become wildly popular over the past few years, in part due to its long list of famous fans: Mandy Moore, Margot Robbie, and Jessica Alba have all rolled the sleek suitcases through airports before, according to the brand. A handful of celebrity couples are also onboard: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, and even exes Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles own the luggage.

The Bigger Carry-On has a lightweight, durable shell, smooth-gliding, multidirectional wheels for easy rolling, and a TSA-approved combination lock. Inside, three zippered compartments, a double-buckle compression pad, and a laundry bag make it easy to keep my things organized. The compartments are the perfect size for underwear, bras, belts, and jewelry, and the pad, which has adjustable straps, works wonders in compressing my belongings.

On a recent weekend getaway, I was able to fit two pairs of shoes, two sweaters, jeans, leggings, my toiletry bag, pajamas, and even books I bought on the trip inside. But even though it’s called the “bigger” carry-on, this Away suitcase has fit in every overhead bin space I’ve encountered so far — even on small domestic planes.

The elevated aesthetic of Away luggage cannot be ignored: The carry-on suitcase’s minimalistic design matches any airport outfit I put together, and I feel undeniably cool rolling it through the terminal. It’s available in black, navy, light blue, olive green, seafoam green, and four glossy colors: maroon, navy, royal blue, and cream.

You can usually find me wearing my Spanx AirEssentials lounge pants and half-zip sweatshirt (which flight attendants have complimented me on) with my MZ Wallace tote bag (which I also bring to the office) resting on top of the Away suitcase. There’s no denying that Away is expensive, but if high quality luggage is important to you like it is to me, you won’t be disappointed in this investment.
