Jennifer Aniston had nothing to fear when it came to getting intimate with Jon Hamm on camera.

The Morning Show actress, 54, opened up about her steamy sex scene with her costar and friend on the satirical dramedy and why she felt no need for an intimacy coordinator while shooting.

With the show’s director Mimi Leder present for the scene, Aniston told Variety that she felt “protected” and “never felt uncomfortable.” Her longtime friendship with Hamm, 51, was also a big factor for her sense of ease.

“Jon was such a gentleman, always — I mean every move, every cut, ‘You OK?’” she recalled. “It was also very choreographed. That’s the beauty of Mimi and our gorgeous editor, the music and lighting. So, you don’t prepare.”

When producers asked if Aniston and Hamm would like an intimacy coordinator on set, the Friends alum confessed she didn’t know what that meant, coming from the “olden days.”

She continued, “They said, ‘Where someone asks you if you’re OK,’ and I’m like, ‘Please, this is awkward enough!’ We’re seasoned — we can figure this one out. And we had Mimi there.”

On The Morning Show, Aniston plays news anchor Alex Levy. Hamm, on the other hand, takes on the role of corporate titan Paul Marks. Since the series’ debut in 2019, the show has gone on to receive 11 Emmy award nominations. Aniston’s performance also won her a Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding performance by a female actor in January 2020.

While speaking at The Morning Show For Your Consideration Panel in June 2022, the actress discussed how she was rooting for her character to find love in season 3 of the Apple TV+ show.

Aniston shared her desire to see Alex "maybe try to find even a human connection, a love connection of some sort."

"I'd love to see how Alex is with intimacy- of not only just a female but of a male," she explained. "Because that's something I think would be really clumsy, and I think it'd be really fun to explore that awkwardness of trying."
