Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin Hold Hands on Mexico Getaway Days After Madame Web Opens

Dakota Johnson is soaking up the sun with her boyfriend Chris Martin.

The Madame Web star, 34, was seen hitting the beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with Martin, 46, on Monday. The pair were photographed holding hands as they waded into the water together, just days after Johnson's Spider-Man-related superhero movie opened in theaters on Valentine's Day.

Johnson and the Coldplay lead singer began dating in 2017, some time after Martin famously "consciously uncoupled" from his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2016. The couple made their first public appearance together at Stella McCartney's Autumn 2018 Collection event in January 2018.

Several years into their relationship, the couple remain private about their love life and seem to spend much of their time at their home together in Malibu, Calif. Johnson has collaborated with Martin and Coldplay as the director of the music video for their 2020 song "Cry Cry Cry," and the pair also spend time with Martin's ex Paltrow, 51, and her husband Brad Falchuk.

“We’re actually very good friends," Paltrow told her Instagram followers of her relationship with Johnson during a Q&A she conducted in October 2023. “I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person."

Johnson and Martin's Mexico vacation comes after Madame Web — which stars Johnson as a New York City paramedic who gains clairvoyant abilities — grossed $25.8 million after its opening last Wednesday, making $15.1 million between Friday and Sunday at the domestic box office and gaining an additional $25.7 million internationally.

Johnson admitted in a recent interview with MagicFM that she has not yet seen Madame Web, though she noted that she tends not to watch any of her own movies.

"For me it's a way to not have, like, an existential crisis," she said during the interview, as shared on TikTok. "Not watching my movies is self-care."

Johnson does not yet have any upcoming movies on her schedule following Madame Web. Martin, however, is scheduled to tour with Coldplay throughout this summer, beginning with the band's upcoming performances in Athens, Greece in June.
