Melrose Firefighters Extinguish Wakefield Industrial Fire

On Thursday around 6 a.m., the Wakefield Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at WestRock Co. industrial complex.

MELROSE, MA – The Wakefield Fire Department, along with firefighters from Reading, Stoneham, Melrose and North Reading put out a two-alarm fire at an industrial complex earlier this morning,

On Thursday around 6 a.m., the Wakefield Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at WestRock Co. industrial complex at 365 Audubon Rd.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the fire in the rear loading dock of the building, and struck a second alarm to get more help on the scene.

No employees or firefighters were injured in the blaze, and the industrial plant is expected to resume operations once cleanup is completed.

A preliminary investigation shows that the fire was accidental, with the cause of the fire under investigation by the Wakefield Fire Department and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
