MELROSE, MA — Fire crews battled a fire at a vacant home in Melrose early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say the blaze started just before 6 a.m. on Mill Road in a heavily-wooded area near the Mount Hood Golf Course.

Officials say it was difficult to access the house due to the overgrowth of the area. The house eventually collapsed and the fire was put out by firefighters.
