Hey kids!

Get an adult to bring you to the Visitor Centre or Cyprus Lake Campground Office to ask a staff member for an Xplorer Booklet. When you’re done exploring, remember to bring your booklet back to claim your reward!

Rattle tales

Nature nook

Visitor Centre (Gallery)
Thursday – Monday, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm 

Explore the gallery to find park interpreters in the Nature Nook! Discover extra special specimens, try a hands-on craft or activity, and to bring us your nature questions.

Stargazing on the beach

Singing Sands (beach building)
Sunday after sunset - 11:00 pm

Join Bayside Astronomy on the stargazing deck at Singing Sands. Get a chance to see the sparkling star-filled night sky through telescopes, and experience just how dark a Dark Sky Preserve can be! 

Weather dependent, may be cancelled if cloudy or raining. Please check facebook.com/BaysideAstronomy for cancellation notices on day-of. 
Terrain: Lit path across a road, deck and boardwalk, navigating in darkness.

Big canoe adventure

Guided Paddling Program
Cyprus Lake Dock
Monday & Thursday 10:00 am

Join us on a paddle over the waters of Cyprus Lake in the big 8-person canoe! We will learn some paddling basics and set out on a mini adventure exploring the shore and aquatic world of Cyprus Lake. Life vests and paddles provided. 
Cyprus Lake camping permit required. Please park at P2 or walk from your campsite.

Estimated program duration: 2 hours

Terrain: Grass lawn, gravel, sloping shoreline, lakeside dock. 

Pre-registration recommended

Pre-registration recommended as seats are limited. Please email BPFFInterpretation@pc.gc.ca and provide the following:

  1. Name, phone number and email address
  2. Names of all participants in your group
  3. Preferred date

Details

  • Passenger must be able to remain seated for up to 2 hours.
  • Passenger must be able to paddle for a significant portion of the program duration (exceptions may be made, but must be balanced with overall ability of crew to power the canoe)
  • Passenger must be able to board the canoe unassisted
  • Passengers must be able to properly wear an approved PFD

Safety of visitors is our highest priority. Parks Canada will cancel the trip in the event of bad weather or other safety concerns and will endeavour to notify you of cancellations as far in advance as possible.

Disclaimer of Risk

There are inherent risks in paddling activities. These may include injury and drowning. Injury caused by strain, overexertion and fatigue are also possible. Hypothermia and heat exhaustion caused by environmental factors may also be experienced. There may also be unusual weather conditions, as the force of wind and waves can exceed conditions found on other lakes.
Bruce Peninsula National Park has done its best to mitigate these risks by training, certification, safe work policies, and safety planning. However, it is up to visitors to determine whether they accept the risks associated with this activity and proceed with participating in this activity.

By participating in the activity beyond this point, the participant willingly assumes and accepts all risks. Participants of this activity do so entirely at their own risk, and the Parks Canada Agency accepts no liability for any injury, death or losses, however caused, to anyone participating in the activity.

Make the most of your interpretive experience:

  • All hikes are limited to 25 participants in order to ensure the ecological integrity.
  • Show up on time to avoid missing out.
  • Have proper footwear, a snack and water. 
  • Kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
