Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have been relationship goals for many since they started dating in 2016.
However, Page Six confirmed in September 2023 that the pair — who have remained tight-lipped about their romance since they got together — were on the rocks and headed for divorce.
Then, on Sept. 5, 2023, the DNCE frontman filed for divorce from the “Game of Thrones” actress.
“I want to feel like an open book,” the former Disney Channel star said in a November 2022 interview with Mr. Porter. “But when we started dating, I realized that I didn’t have a ton of stuff that was just for me.
“And in the end,” he continued, “it makes me a better person to have something for myself.”
While Jonas and Turner haven’t divulged much to fans over the years, they have shared many milestones — including two weddings and two babies — throughout their relationship, and Page Six is breaking it all down.
October 2016: From DMs to first date
“One fine day, out of the blue,” Jonas sent Turner a direct message on Instagram, she revealed to Harper’s Bazaar UK in 2019.
The pair, whose mutual friends had been trying to set them up before they started chatting virtually, eventually went on their first date at a bar in October 2016.
“I remember the two of us spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we just found a space far in the corner and we just talked,” Turner recalled. “We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I was, like, not bored. It wasn’t contrived. It wasn’t small talk — it was just so easy.”
January 2017: Instagram-official
After making headlines for attending a Halloween party and a Kings of Leon concert together, Turner confirmed her relationship with Jonas via Instagram in January 2017.
The “Dark Phoenix” star posted a photo of her the musician smoking a cigar in the back of a boat with the caption, “Miami daze.”

The DNCE member proposed to Turner in October 2017.
“She said yes,” Jonas wrote on Instagram at the time. Turner, for her part, shared the same pic showing off the ring and wrote, “I said yes.”

“I found my person like I’d find a house that I love and want to stay in forever,” she boasted to the mag. “There’s a sense of peace that comes with finding your person.”
October 2018: Red carpet debut
The couple didn’t walk a red carpet together until one year after their engagement.
Turner and Jonas attended a Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week in October 2018, matching at the time in black and gray outfits.
The pair ventured out four more times the following year, posing together at the Met Gala as well as the premieres of “Dark Phoenix,” “Chasing Happiness” and Season 8 of “Games of Thrones.”

When the couple tied the knot again the following month, it was in front of their family and friends in the French countryside.
The newlyweds kept tight-lipped about the ceremony, but did reveal a few never-before-seen photos while celebrating their second anniversary in 2021.

July 2020: Welcoming Willa
Although Turner was spotted with a baby bump on multiple occasions in 2020, she didn’t share any photos of her budding belly with her followers until after giving birth.
The Emmy nominee welcomed baby girl Willa in July 2020, later revealing she delivered her daughter with her face covered amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If I can wear a mask while I give birth, you can wear a mask at Walmart,” she said in a December 2020 Instagram Story. “And that’s the tea.”
September 2021: Making Miami moves
In September 2021, the family of three traded their Los Angeles home for one in Miami.
“We have good weather and live by the water,” Turner told Elle UK in May 2022, admitting that she wanted to relocate to England one day but it “might take some convincing.”
Turner and Jonas eventually sold their Florida mansion in August 2023 for $15 million.
July 2022: Family of four
Two months after debuting her baby bump at the May 2022 Met Gala, Turner and Jonas welcomed baby No. 2, another daughter.
“Joe and Sophie are happy to announce the arrival of their baby girl,” their reps revealed in July 2022.
The proud parents have yet to share their second child’s name or any photos.
September 2023: Split speculation
TMZ reported in September 2023 that Jonas’ team had met with two Los Angeles-area divorce lawyers as the couple headed for a split.
Their reps did not respond to Page Six’s requests for comment at the time.
The duo first sparked split speculation the previous month when eagle-eyed fans noticed the “Sucker” crooner wasn’t wearing his ring during multiple Jonas Brothers concerts.
Turner also only attended the first show of the Jonas Brothers’ “Five Albums. One Night” tour, which kicked off at Yankee Stadium in NYC on Aug. 12.
September 2023: Divorce filing
Jonas put the nail in the coffin when he officially filed for divorce from the “GoT” starlet on Sept. 5. The singer tapped powerhouse attorney Tom Sasser, who handled Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s divorce, to represent him in the split.
According to TMZ, Turner’s affinity for partying led to the musician’s filing.
“She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles,” a source told the outlet.
Turner later claimed in a lawsuit that she found out about the divorce filing through the media.
September 2023: Bombshell lawsuit
Less than three weeks after the musician filed for divorce, the “Game of Thrones” alum sued him for the return of their two daughters to England, her home country.
Turner claimed in court docs that Jonas “wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained” their two daughters and refused to turn over their passports so they could return to the UK with their mother.
The actress also alleged that she and Jonas agreed that England would be the family’s permanent residence before their “sudden” split.
Jonas fired back against his estranged wife’s suit, telling Page Six through via his rep, “This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst.”
