Jamie Foxx finally reveals what led to his mysterious hospitalization: ‘I was gone for 20 days’

Jamie Foxx finally revealed what led to his mysterious hospitalization last year.

The multi-hyphenate, 56, was recently recorded telling a group of people in downtown Phoenix that on April 11, 2023, he had a “bad headache,” so he asked his “boy for Advil.”

Foxx then snapped his fingers and said, “I was gone for 20 days,” admitting that he does not “remember anything.”

Noting that he was “in Atlanta” when he was hospitalized, the actor explained that his sister and his daughter took him to “the first doctor.”

Foxx then mumbled something to the woman next to him, but it was inaudible in the video.

“Next doctor said, ‘[There’s] something going on up there,” he continued, pointing to his head.

“I won’t say it on camera,” the musician quickly added while looking directly at the person filming.

On April 12, 2023, Foxx’s eldest daughter, Corinne Foxx, announced Jamie had “experienced a medical complication” but that “due to quick action and great care,” he was “already on his way to recovery.”

Three weeks later, the comedian posted a simple message to his Instagram Story that read, “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed 🙏🏿❤️🦊.”

After rumors of what might have happened to him began circulating online, Corinne, 30, informed the public that her dad had “been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating.”

“In fact,” she made sure to note, “he was playing pickleball yesterday!”

It wasn’t until last July that Jamie elaborated on his “hellish” experience; however, he did not reveal an exact diagnosis.

“I went through something I thought I would never, ever go through,” he told his Instagram followers in a selfie-style video at the time, clarifying that he was neither “blind” nor “paralyzed.”

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that, man,” he admitted with tears in his eyes, adding, “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The “Ray” star went on to thank his sister Deidra Dixon and Corinne, crediting them, God and “a lot of great medical people” with saving his life.

He also thanked his inner circle for remaining tight-lipped about his condition.

The following month, the “Beat Shazam” co-host told his fans he was “finally startin to feel like” himself after “an unexpected dark journey.”

A healthy-looking Jamie was then seen alongside his “Back in Action” co-star Cameron Diaz on the Atlanta set of their upcoming movie this past January.

He had been filming the action-comedy when he fell ill.
